Challenging the conventions of real media products | have made sure the artists
do not portray a violent or negative vibe to the audience through any body
language or facial expressions. The typical grime artists convey a ‘hood’
, dangerous gang’ look in their videos. For example a music video by Sneakbo a
upcoming grime artist created a music video called touch a button ft Political
Peak & JJ.
This music video consists of the common grime genre ingredients such as the
artist looking down at the camera to show a higher status. A mid shot being used
to show the body language and facial expressions which are anger and violence
portrayal. This artist is with a group of boys who have their hoods up and some
have their face hidden. This represents little crews and gang ware fares. lv made
the performers like Jamal and Tom portray a ‘sweet boy’ look and not an
aggression towards the audience. | felt this convention was easy to challenge
because the lyrics were based on a girl and the artists feelings for her.
As in the montage in slide 2 the cinematography used was chosen specifically to
show a innocent artist look, the opposite to slide 1.
