SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION: MAY CAUSE BURNS OR DAMAGE TO THE EYES. DO NOT INHALE VAPOURS OR MIST. WILL REACT VIOLENTLY WITH WATER. Route of Entry: Eye: May cause severe irritation with corneal injury, which may result in permanent impairment of vision, even blindness. Mists may cause eye irritation. Skin: Short single exposure may cause severe skin burns. A single prolonged exposure is not likely to result in absorption of harmful amounts. Ingestion: May cause severe burns of the mouth and throat. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation or ulceration. Inhalation: Mists may cause severe irritation of the upper respiratory tract (nose and throat). (See Section 11 for Toxicological Information)

SECTION 4 - FIRST AID: Eye: Wash eyes immediately and continuously with a fresh stream of running water, holding eyelid open, for a minimum of 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately. Skin: Flush affected area with cool, running water. Remove contaminated clothing and launder prior to reuse. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give large amounts of water or milk if available and transport to medical facility. Seek medical attention immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Inhalation: Remove to fresh air if effects occur. Administer oxygen, or artificial respiration if breathing stops. Consult a physician immediately. Note to Physician: Treat for clinical symptoms. No specialized procedures. SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES: Non-Flammable / Non-Combustible Flash Point: None Autoignition: Not applicable Flammability Limits: Other Flammability Information: Product reacts with water. May produce exothermic reaction. Extinguishing Media: Use water spray to extinguish fire and cool containers. Fire Fighting Instructions: This material does not burn. Use agents appropriate for surrounding fire. SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES: Eliminate all sources of ignition. Dike spills immediately and ventilate area of spill or leak. Neutralize small spills of Caustic Soda with absorbent material and place in containers for disposal. For large spills, contain material to prevent contamination of soil, surface water or ground water and pump into containers for disposal. Prevent entry into waterways and do not flush to Sewer. DO NOT APPLY WATER. Reacts strongly with acids and water.

SECTION 7 - HANDLING & STORAGE: Handling: Will react violently with acids and other organic chemicals. Add products gradually, while stirring constantly. If product concentrates at the bottom of mixing vessel, heat may be generated and violent explosion can occur. Always wear protective clothing. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapours. Storage: Store away from incompatible materials. Store in a dry place. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Do not store in aluminum containers or use aluminum fittings and/or transfer lines. SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS: Engineering Controls: Provide general and/or local exhaust ventilation to control airborne levels below the exposure guidelines. No special ventilation is required under normal use. Eye/Face Protection: Use chemical goggles. Wear a face-shield, which allows use of chemical goggles, or wear a full-face respirator to protect face and eyes when there is any likelihood of splashes. Eye wash fountain should be located in immediate work area. Skin Protection: Use protective clothing impervious to this material. Selection of specific items such as face shield, gloves, boots, apron, or full-bodysuit will depend on operation. Safety shower should be located in immediate work area. Remove contaminated clothing immediately, wash skin area with soap and water, and launder clothing before reuse. Contaminated leather items, such as shoes, belts and watchbands, should be removed and destroyed. Respiratory Protection: None required under normal, ventilated conditions. If respiratory irritation is experienced, use an approved airpurifying respirator. SECTION 9 - PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Physical State: Liquid Appearance: Clear liquid Vapour Press: mmHg, 13@ 60C Boiling Point: Approximately 145C Specific Gravity: @ 15.6C - 1.52 g/ml pH: 14 SECTION 10 - STABILITY & REACTIVITY: Chemical Stability: Stable under recommended storage conditions. Conditions to Avoid: Avoid temperature below 85F. Incompatibility with other Materials: Heat is generated when mixed with water. Spattering and boiling can occur. Hazardous Polymerization will not occur. No hazardous decomposition products. SECTION 11 - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:
