Las Ciencias Sociales desde su origen y evolucin hasta nuestros tiempos se constituyen en
un rea de aprendizaje fundamental en la formacin escolar puesto que all reposan los
conocimientos sociales que permiten a los nios y jvenes el desarrollo de habilidades y
destrezas para el afianzamiento de su identidad, el amor a sus races y antepasados, el
conocimiento de su mundo y
METODOLOGA
Los mdulos diseados para el rea de Ciencias Sociales son enfocados hacia la
metodologa de talleres y guas de trabajo por lo que se constituyen en una especie de
cuadernos de trabajo en los que el estudiante desarrollara los diferentes procesos de
aprendizaje interactuando con diferentes fuentes y medios como son: textos escolares de
diferentes autores, bibliobanco, internet, textos especializados, por lo que se da especial
relevancia al estudio de casos, la observacin directa, la entrevista, la reconstruccin de
saberes entre otras.
PRIMER PERIODO
Desempeos:
Ubicar en el tiempo hechos de la historia ocurridos durante el Medioevo, utilizando
diferentes fuentes de informacin, en relacin con los acontecimientos histricos de la
actualidad.
Identificar los elementos bsicos de la cartografa para la interpretacin de mapas esto
es: proyecciones, coordenadas escalas y convenciones.
Reconocer el concepto de regin en relacin con las diferentes regiones geogrficas

Crisol de las razas del mundo
Amrica Latina era ya un mundo slido cuando los espaoles llegaron y luego trajeron, en
forma violenta, la poblacin negra procedente de frica; as los nativos, unidos a los
europeos y los africanos daran como resultado al actual latinoamericano, que en nmero
equivalen aproximadamente al 10% de la poblacin mundial. As, la Amrica Latina
parece fusionar con su particular historia las tres razas caractersticas que renen a la
poblacin mundial.
En el aspecto lingstico y religioso, el espaol, el portugus y el catolicismo identifican
este aspecto de la cultura latinoamericana. Ahora bien, en pases como Mxico,
Paraguay, Bolivia y algunas zonas de Centroamrica existen importantes grupos de
poblacin amerindia, es decir, poblacin descendiente de los aborgenes americanos.
Geopolticamente, las naciones latinoamericanas presentan una frgil estabilidad poltica
y sus gobiernos son democracias dbiles o inestables; desde otra perspectiva conviene
observar que numerosos pases latinoamericanos heredaron conflictos de fronteras,
que de vez en cuando conducen a enfrentamientos de tipo militar, como sucedi
recientemente entre Per y Ecuador.
Desde el punto de vista de la integracin los latinoamericanos han intentado consolidar
varias propuestos como el Pacto Andino, la Asociacin Latinoamericana de Libre
Comercio (ALALC), sin resultados muy positivos.
Aunque sobra decir que la mayora de los gobiernos persisten en este esfuerzo, pues la
experiencia histrica ha demostrado que la integracin es un camino positivo hacia el
desarrollo.
Finalmente, digamos que el nivel de vida de los latinoamericanos se halla en nivel
intermedio, aunque existen naciones en condiciones de notoria pobreza como Hait,
Paraguay y Bolivia. Esta situacin se agudiza si observamos que el crecimiento
demogrfico de este continente es superior al 1,5%, con abundante poblacin infantil y
juvenil, sin adecuadas condiciones de vida y educacin.

SITUACION PROBLEMA
Hace muchos aos, a un territorio en las orillas del mar, llegaron diferentes
familias de distintas regiones que encontraron all una oportunidad para
establecerse, despus de haber tenido que irse de sus tierras de origen por
diferentes motivos.
Despus de varios aos, este territorio estuvo habitado por personas que, en
general, eran muy distintas. Existan personas con diferentes rasgos fsicos, con
distintas creencias y tradiciones culturales, es decir, tenan una serie de factores
que los diferenciaban entre s.
En una primera etapa, mientras estos grupos se establecan en aquel lugar, la
convivencia se hizo sencilla; sin embargo, con el pasar del tiempo los conflictos
entre los distintos grupos aumentaron a tal punto que degeneraron en violencia.
Fue imposible la convivencia de los grupos reunidos en aquel lugar, porque cada
uno se senta ms importante y con mayores derechos que los dems.
Al final, todos los grupos salieron de aquel sitio, desaprovechando la oportunidad
que la vida les haba otorgado, la posibilidad de encontrarse con otros grupos
humanos que, por diferentes, podran ayudarles a enriquecer su propia cultura
