This term is commonly used to describe the unsatisfactory practice of inten-

tionally supplying to a purchaser a food commodity which is not of the nature

demanded by the purchaser.

Examples of ‘passing off’ offences include supplying cod when haddock had

specifically been requested, or sirloin steak in place of rump steak.
