April, 2010

In this Project you will have to design a comic based on a short story,
written by Armstrong Sperry and entitled as “The boy who was
afraid”. The main purpose of this work will be to practice the
reading and writing abilities in the target language.
IMPORTANT ASPECTS:
1) You have to make your own copies about the whole material and
bring it to the class.
2) You will have to read a chapter by yourself. The first chapter will
be read in group.
3) The comic will be designed on a white cardboard using your own
creativity. Every member will design a page of the comic. A page
will correspond to one chapter of the book.
ACTIVITIES SESSION BY SESSION
SESSION NO. 1
A) Name a secretary for this session.
B) In your group read chapter 1 and answer the questions given by
your teacher.
C) As a team, make decisions about the following:
• Drawings about the main characters (what do they look like?).
• Are you going to make your own drawings? Are you going to
use colors, crayons or markers?
• How are you going to divide the chapters? Who is going to
design each page?
SESSION NO. 2
A) Divide the rest of the chapters among the members of your team
(the sea, the island, drums and homeward) If a chapter is long, two
people can be working on it.
B) As soon as you know the chapter you will be working on, read it
and write a summary about it using your own words. Give it to the
teacher at the end of the class.
C) Be sure to look up unknown words.

SESSION NO. 3
A) Share the information (your summary) with people in your team. In
doing so, take turns to read your summary. Explain if necessary.
Give details.
B) Start designing your comic page on the white cardboard. Use
colors to make it vivid.
SESSION NO 4.
A) Finish your comic page and sew it with a needle and some thread.
B) Give your comic to the teacher.
C) Assign a grade for your work
SESSION NO 5
