A Christmas Carol

Scrooge and Marley

by Israel Horovitz

Famous the world over, the ghostly but ultimately heart-warming story of Ebenezer Scrooge,
and his change of heart towards Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the rest is known well enough by all
to need no description. Israel Horovitz’s adaptation of the classic Dickens tale follows the
original closely, but, in bringing it to life on the stage, adds the ghost of Jacob Marley in a
narrative role, observing Scrooge’s failings or progress, making colorful observations and
arranging for new shocks to his partner’s system. The end result is a delightful evening of theatre
for people of all ages.
