CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE
2011 ‐ SHORT‐TERM VISITING FELLOWS PROGRAM
AT THE CSIC INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC GOODS AND POLICIES (IPP‐CCHS)

The CSIC Institute of Public Goods and Policies (IPP) at the CSIC is calling for applications for its 2011 Short‐
Term Visiting Fellows Program. This is targeted at research employees from non‐Spanish universities and/or
research institutions already collaborating or planning to collaborate with IPP researchers on joint research
projects and/or drafting joint papers related to one or more of the Institute’s active research lines.
The CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) is the largest public research institution in Spain and the third
largest in Europe. The Institute is located and integrated within the CSIC Center for Humanities and Social
Sciences (CCHS) in Madrid, and is composed of three departments:
• Science Dynamics and Innovation,
• Environmental Economics,
• Comparative Politics.
Candidates are encouraged to learn about the Institute’s activities and Faculty’s research profile via the
website: www.ipp.csic.es. Priority would be given to subjects of interest to more than one IPP department.
The fellowship offers office space with IT services and access to the library at the CCHS and covers travel and
accommodation expenses in Madrid during the time of the visit; preferably between 2 and 8 weeks, subject to
negotiation. Basic support includes:
a) A living allowance not exceeding € 3 000 per month.
b) Complementary travel expenses (up to € 1 000).
The stipend could be further increased with compensations for short‐courses that the candidate might
optionally host at the Institute. Evidence of partial support already available (co‐funding) will be considered
favorably. The final amount and conditions of support are subject to negotiation, conditional on the
availability of funds.
Applications should be submitted to director.IPP@csic.es and include; a CV of the applicant; a short outline of
the project (max. 500 words); the name(s) of the researcher(s) the candidate has agreed to work with at the
IPP; proposed date of arrival; and the proposed length of stay
• For summer visits, starting after June 1st, 2011 and finishing before August 30th, applications should
be submitted no later than May 2nd. 2011.
• For autumn and winter visits, starting after July 1st, 2011 and finishing before December 30th 2011,
applications should be submitted no later that June 15th. 2011.
Evaluation of the proposals and candidates will be based on merit and the contribution towards the IPP
research agenda by the Board of Directors.
