ABSTRACT

This study entitled “Frustration Response of Male and Female Preschool

Children of De La Salle Lipa Integrated School SY 2010-2011” strongly aimed

to elicit the difference between male and female children’s frustration response.

The descriptive research method was used to obtain and interpret

information in connection with the present status of the respondents such as: age

and level. The comparative research method aimed to make comparisons across

different Frustration Responses of Male and Female respondents. The personal

profile was acquired through determining their frustration responses in terms of

age and level. The Non-Verbal Measure of Children’s Frustration Response was

employed to determine the abovementioned difference on frustration response.

For each set the three choices consist of an "aggressive" response choice, a

"prosocial" response choice, and an "avoidance" response choice. The

respondents’ task is to look at the stimulus pictures that depict a "frustrating"

situation and then identify among the three response pictures the response that

most likely to be emitted by the protagonist. Pearson r was to know if there is a

relationship exists between the personal profile of the respondents and their

frustration responses; and f-test, to find out if there is a significant difference

between the frustration response of male and female respondents.

The significant relationship was found to have a highly inverse relationship

between aggressiveness and age. Elder levels are less aggressive and vice

versa.

Higher-grade levels are less aggressive and females are less aggressive.

The significant difference was found on the frustration responses of the

respondents when grouped according to grade level.
