MICROCONTROLLER BASED ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSOR

SYSTEM

OBJECTIVES:

To analyze the various parameters present in the product.

COMPARISON TO THE PREVIOUS PRODUCT:

ADVANTAGES:

 Low power consumption

 It is battery operated system
 It is a portable sensor
 It detects the quantification of peak value
 Continuous monitoring can be done
 Output will be taken both hard and soft copy
because we can also use printers.
 No calculations are required here

REQUIREMENTS:

 Hardware fabrication for constant potential supply

CONVENTION METHOD:

 Wet Oxidation method

 Dry Oxidation method
 Probe and meter method
 Winkler method

SENSORS:

 Sensor is nothing but a transducer

 It can monitor any parameter and chemical species
Interest when present in a complex matrix

TYPES OF SENSORS:

 Amperometric Sensor
 Potentiometric Sensor
 Temperature Sensor

AMPEROMETRIC SENSOR:

It impresses the voltage and detects the peak value of the current.

POTENTIOMETRIC SENSOR:

It is nothing but one of the sensor which reads or detects the voltage

TEMPERATURE SENSOR:

Temperature sensor is one, which is used to sense the temperature of the

sample/product.

For eg: Thermister,Thermocoupler. At Medium/ambient temperature condition

availability of oxygen only 22% and balance is Nitrogen.

PARAMETERS:

DISSOLVED OXYGEN (DO):

The amount of oxygen that is dissolved in a liquid is usually

represented I ppm. The thee electrodes systems present here are 1. Gold-Working
electrode 2. Platinum-Counter electrode 3. Ag-Ag-Cl- Reference electrode

Dissolved oxygen detected in Amperometric mode

Oxygen permeable membrance gets imparts selective for D.O probe

DISSOLVED OXYGEN- Oxygen saturated solution having 22 ppm

Air saturated solution having 7.2 ppm
Minimum value of oxygen having 0.01 ppm

PH SENSOR:
 Ph Is nothing but potential of hydrogen
 When sensor detects the Ph value of the sample it compares with
the reference value finally the difference will be displayed in the
PC with the help of microcontroller.

SIGNAL CONDITIONING / MULTIPLEXER:

 It is necessary, when we have a multi channel

 Future extension is possible without any major change

NECESSITY FOR RC FILTER:

 It is used to reduce the oscillation when there is a low current

AMPLIFFIER: (LINE PICK UP)

 It is used to amplify the low value signal

 It is used in microcontroller for readable output.
