WHY TO USE WIND

POWER?

WIND POWER:
Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form, such as
electricity, using wind turbines. At the end of 2007, worldwide capacity of wind-
powered generators was 94.1 gig watts. Most wind power is generated in the form of
electricity. Large scale wind farms are connected to electrical grids. Individual
turbines can provide electricity to isolated locations. In windmills, wind energy IS
used directly as mechanical energy for pumping water or grinding grain.
Apart from the benefits of non-polluted, free power from windmills we get the
following advantages. Tax savings - 80% depreciation in the year of installation serving as
tax shield.
 The electricity generated can be fed to the Boards grid & can be drawn at the
location of consumption.
 The extra power can be sold to the Electricity board/third parties. No taxes or
duties are charged on the power generated by WTGS.
 Financial assistance for the project at concessional rate of interest from IREDA &
other financial institutions.
 Wind power projects have no adverse effect on global environment. The whole
system is pollution free & environment friendly.
 Good wind potential to harness Wind, energy.
 Fuel cost is zero.
 The cheapest source of electrical energy.
 A real fast track power project; Construction time is less.
• Capacity addition can be possible.
• A favorable policy exists in India (From Central Government as well as state governments).
