Many of them like Patrick Phillips, the conductor of the Austin Wind Symphony
Orchestra, dressed up in classic Trekkie attire for the event. Phillip says it's the
fantasy of escape that most people can relate to which has made for a huge following of
the Star Trek series,
Friday's event was actually a fundraiser for a local group trying to raise millions to
build a Planetarium across the street from the history museum. The main draw of
course is the newest Star Trek movie making its IMAX debut on Friday.
The newest Star Trek movie is expected to be so popular that the Bob Bullock History
Museum added midnight shows for the two weeks the blockbuster is showing at the
IMAX theater there.
A ticket to see the IMAX version of Star Trek is $12, 3 to 4-dollars more than the
regular theaters.
Star Trek bolts out of the Bob Bullock History Museum at warp speed on May 21st.
