TAKE HOME ASSIGNMENT: BGB2013 AUGUST 2010

Do the assignment in a group of 2 to 3 students. Submit the hardcopy in our next FTF
class (after the break).

Answer TWO questions only. Question 1 is compulsory. Choose either Question 2 or 3.

Each question is worth 10 marks.

1. In its 10th Malaysian Plan, the government plans to fix the school entry age at 5
years old. The current school entry age is 7 years old. Discuss the potential
advantages and disadvantages of such a move to the economy in general. Your
discussion should be in the perspective of HRM.

2. Some states in Malaysia have implemented the 90 days of maternity leave.

HSBC Bank Malaysia has also followed suit recently. Discuss the advantages
and disadvantages of the “90 days maternity leave” benefit. Find out also the
number of maternity leave in other countries.

3. There have been many cases of road accidents that involved buses. Some put
the blame on the bus drivers and others blamed the bus companies. Recently the
government proposed its idea to engage bus drivers from foreign countries.
Discuss the potential advantages and disadvantages of the idea.
