INTRODUCCIÓN
Es trabajo está dirigido a toda persona que quiera cambiar y mejorar , y
fundamentalmente :a los niños , para que empiecen a tomar conciencia sobre su
futuro, porque la niñez gira alrededor del deseo de ser como adultos y ofrece la
oportunidad de entrar en contacto con la realidad , a los adolescentes por que los
cambios físicos y mentales marcan este periodo de los grandes ideales y ensayan
constantemente sus habilidades sociales , critican su entorno y empiezan el
desarrollo de su proyección personal, y a los jóvenes quienes encontraran
reconfortantes reflexiones , los cuales permitirán fortalecer su espíritu
emprendedor y cambiar sus actitudes.

Se espera que a través de las lecturas de este compendio se superen las

perspectivas personales del lector y que sea de mucha utilidad ya que se realiza un
trabajo de recopilación de lecturas y cuentos reflexivos con su respectiva
traducción al inglés, para de esta forma incentivar el aprendizaje del idioma inglés
lo cual es de suma importancia dentro de este contexto globalizado y ampliar
nuestros horizontes de conocimiento.

INTRODUCTION

CUMPLE TU MISION…….
En algún lugar que podría ser cualquier lugar y en un tiempo que podría ser cualquier
tiempo, existía un hermoso jardín con manzanos, naranjos, perales y bellísimos rosales,
todos ellos felices y satisfechos.

Todo era alegría en el jardín , excepto por un árbol profundamente triste .El pobre tenía
un problema :¡no sabía quién era¡.

Lo que te falta es concentración le decía el manzano, si realmente lo intentas, podrías

tener sabrosísimas manzanas, ¿ves que fácil es?

No lo escuches, exigía el rosal. E s más sencillo tener rosas. “¿ves que bellas son?

Y el árbol desesperado, intentaba todo lo que le sugerían, y como no lograba ser como
los demás, se sentía cada vez mas frustrado.

Un día llego hasta el jardín el colibrí , una de las aves mas sabias y al ver la
desesperación del árbol , exclamo: “no te preocupes tu problema no es tan grave , es
el mismo de muchísimos seres sobre la tierra..” yo te daré la solución : no dediques tu
vida a ser como los demás quieran que seas . se tu mismo , conócete….. y para lograrlo
escucha tu voz interior”

Y dicho esto, el colibrí desapareció.

¿Mi voz interior...? ¿Ser yo mismo...? ¿Conócete? Se preguntaba el árbol desesperado,

cuando de pronto, comprendió.

Y cerrando los ajos y los oídos, abrió el corazón, y por fin pudo escuchar su voz interior
diciéndole:

“tu jamás darás manzanas porque no eres un manzano, ni florecerás cada primavera
porque no eres un rosal .eres un roble y tu destino es crecer grande y majestuoso. Dar
cobijo a las aves, sombra a los viajeros, belleza al paisaje, tienes una misión:¡cúmplela¡

Entonces el árbol se sintió fuerte y seguro de sí mismo y se dispuso a ser todo aquello
para lo cual estaba destinado.

Así, pronto lleno su espacio y fue admirado y respetado por todos. y solo entonces el
jardín fue completamente feliz

Yo me pregunto al ver a mi alrededor… ¿Cuántos serán robles que no se permiten a si

mismos crecer?.

KEEP YOUR MISSION

LA CAJA LLENA DE BESOS

Hace ya un tiempo, un hombre castigo a su pequeña niña de tres años delante de
sus amiguitos por desperdiciar un rollo de papel higiénico

El dinero era escaso en esos días por lo que exploto en furia, cuando vio a la niña
tratando de envolver una caja para ponerla debajo del árbol de navidad, mas sin
embargo, la niña medito sobre su castigo y la llevo el regalo a su padre que estaba
enojado, la siguiente mañana y dijo:

“Esto es para ti papito”

El padre se sintió avergonzado de su reacción de furia.

Pero, este volvió a explotar cuando vio que la caja estaba vacía, le volvió a gritar
y golpear diciendo:
“que no sabes que cuando das un regalo a alguien se supone que debe haber
algo de valor adentro”

La pequeña voltea hacia arriba con lagrimas en los ojos y dijo:

“oh, papito , no esta vacía yo sople miles de besos adentro de la caja ,todos para
ti papito”. El padre se sintió morir, abrazo y suplico a la niña a que lo perdonara.

Se ha dicho que el hombre guardo esa caja dorada cerca de su cama por años
y siempre que se sentía derrumbado, el tomaba la caja y sacaba un beso
imaginario y recordaba el amor que su niña había puesto ahí.

Es una forma muy sensible, cada uno de nosotros hemos recibido un regalo
incondicional y besos de nuestros hijos, amigos. Nadie podría tener una
propiedad o posesión más hermosa que la caja de besos.
 BOX FULL OF KISSES

LOS TRIUNFADORES
“quien no sueña en tocar las nubes o sueña con ser un profesional para el orgullo tuyo

Cierto día emigran a la ciudad de vilcashuaman una joven pareja, ellos muy soñadores
y trabajadores se preocupaban por el futuro de sus dos hermosos niños de quienes se
sentían orgullosos y darle u futuro mejor.

Por problemas sociopolíticos el padre, un maestro de educación primaria, es recluido y

desaparecido cambiando la unidad familiar y lida de sus dos hijos.

Un día soleado mientras lloraban de pena al fondo de un arroyo se presenta un anciano

quien con voz dulce y convencedora les dijo:

Hijos de dios, en sus momentos difíciles piensen, decidan, actúen y triunfaran.

La madre llorosa e hijos se sorprendieron al oír las palabras y los tres reflexionaron.
pero la fuerza y recuerdo del maestro desaparecido los vencen y dejan de ir a la
escuela , pierden sus pertenencias, sus valores y autoestima volcándose al abandono.

Si pasar los días después del desayuno los tres reflexionaron y prometen treponerse y
piensan en vencer los obstáculos y los vencen. Luego deciden estudiar y retornaron al
centro de estudios y mejoraron en sus estudios , ante este apoyo de su madre los
niños actúan de manera asertiva en bien de su futuro.

Después de varios años ya jóvenes buscan su futuro y son profesionales logrando

triunfar, cumpliendo sus sueños y el consejo del anciano.

THE WINNERS

QUÉ SIGNIFICA SER POBRE?

Un Padre económicamente acomodado, queriendo que su hijo supiera lo que es

ser pobre, lo llevó para que pasara un par de días en el monte con una familia
campesina.
 Pasaron tres días y dos noches en su vivienda del campo. En el carro, retornando
a la ciudad, el padre preguntó a su hijo

—Y... ¿qué aprendiste?, insistió el padre...
El hijo contestó:
• Que nosotros tenemos un perro y ellos tienen cuatro. • Nosotros tenemos una
piscina con agua estancada que llega a la mitad del jardín... y ellos tienen un río
sin fin, de agua cristalina, donde hay pececitos, berro y otras bellezas. • Que
nosotros importamos linternas del Oriente para alumbrar nuestro jardín...mientras
que ellos se alumbran con las estrellas y la luna. •
Nuestro patio llega hasta la cerca...y el de ellos llega al horizonte. • Que nosotros
compramos nuestra comida;...ellos, siembran y cosechan la de ellos. • Nosotros
oímos CD's... Ellos escuchan una perpetua sinfonía de bimbines, chuíos, pericos,
ranas, sapos cocorrones y otros animalitos....todo esto a veces dominado por la
sonora saloma de un vecino que trabaja su monte.
Nosotros cocinamos en estufa eléctrica...Ellos, todo lo que comen tiene ese
glorioso sabor del fogón de leña. •
Para protegernos nosotros vivimos rodeados por un muro, con alarmas.... Ellos
viven con sus puertas abiertas, protegidos por la amistad de sus vecinos. •
Nosotros vivimos 'conectados' al celular, a la computadora, al televisor...
Ellos, en cambio, están 'conectados' a la vida, al cielo, al sol, al agua, al verde del
monte, a los animales, a sus siembras, a su familia.
El padre quedó impactado por la profundidad de su hijo...y entonces el hijo
terminó:
Gracias papá, por haberme enseñado los pobres que somos!
Cada día estamos más pobres de espíritu y de apreciación por la naturaleza que son las
grandes obras de nuestro creador. Nos preocupamos por TENER, TENER, TENER Y
MAS TENER en vez de preocuparnos por SER.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE POOR?

El Asno y El Hielo
 
Era invierno, hacía
mucho frío y todos los
caminos se hallaban
helados. El asnito, que
estaba cansado, no se
encontraba con ánimos
para caminar hasta el
establo.

dijo, de-jándose caer al
suelo. Un aterido y
hambriento gorrioncillo
fue a posarse cerca de su
oreja y le dijo:
-Asno, buen amigo, tenga cuidado; no estás en el camino, sino en un lago helado.
-Déjame, tengo sueño! Y, con un largo bostezo, se quedó dormido.
Poco a poco, el calor de su cuerpo comenzó a fundir el hielo hasta que, de pronto,
se rompió con un gran chasquido.
El asno despertó al caer al agua y empezó a pedir socorro, pero nadie pudo
ayudarle, aunque el gorrión bien lo hubiera querido.

 THE DONKEY AND THE ICE

mismo.

Es lo propio de la vida humana el dinamismo. No somos resultado de una

maquina que produce en serie. Cada uno es un trabajo de artesanía peculiar,
propio, único. En este sentido cada uno será lo que quiera ser, aunque no
dependa enteramente de él. Lo que recibimos como dotación genética o como
legado y dependencia del medio o del ambiente, no es tanto lo que podemos
hacer de nosotros libremente.

Cada uno forja su propio proyecto de vida y lo saca adelante como quien
esculpe una estatua, su más preciada obra de arte, no para contemplarla como
algo distante sino para sentirla, vivirla, encarnarla plenamente. Todo esto
requiere esfuerzo y sacrificio. Vivimos en una sociedad habladora, alborotada,
ahogada en las cosas, que no descubre el valor del sacrificio por su existencia.
Forjar una personalidad fuerte, serena y atrayente tiene exigencias grandes, no
contentarse con la medianía y aspirar a lo mejor. Cada uno es feliz en la medida
de su querer y de su poder para volver realidad lo que espera de si mismo.
 LIFE PROJECT

HACER REALIDAD LA FELICIDAD

Para construirse a si mismo hay que hacerse preguntas y responderse valientemente
¿Para qué estoy en la vida?, Qué quiero de mi mismo?, ¿Cuál es el contenido de la
felicidad que busco? No basta decir que buscamos l felicidad. Es más importante saber
en qué consiste la felicidad. La condición humana responde a unas características
esenciales, pero hay mucha distancia entre la vida biológica y la vida biográfica, es decir
entre lo que soy por naturaleza y lo que alcanzo existencialmente.

No me llega esa felicidad corriendo de un lado para otro, sometiéndome a todo tipo de
experiencias o leyendo o sabiendo muchas cosas. Hay gente que sin moverse casi de su
domicilio y de su trabajo madura enormemente, se ve que han logrado el objetivo
porque centran sus esfuerzos en ser lo que quieren ser, lo cual no depende de
coordenadas geográficas sino de coordenadas vitales, de la mente y del corazón.

Por las calles de las ciudades hay mucha gente que busca ansiosa la felicidad sin
encontrarla. Su vida parece marcado por el deseo sin esperanza de que habla Dante
en la Divina Comedia. Tal vez son arrastradas por el ideal del éxito económico y material
o por el dar gusto a sus sentidos sin negarles nada, por la filosofía del placer. A la vez,
a ellos mismos u a otros, el mundo se les viene abajo por una desgracia económica,
por la falta de salud o por una contrariedad sentimental. Les preocupa el que dirán o el
ambiente que les rodea, o el que ellos y no descansan hasta tener lo mismo.

Para hacerse a si mismo hay que vivir de cara a los demás. No podemos aislarnos o
pensar que esa tarea depende solo de nosotros.

Nada más equivocado. Así como el hombre es un ser encarnado, un ser espiritual pero
en estrecha e inconfundible unidad de alma y demás que es intrínseca o es arraigada
en su propio ser. Es la dimensión de la socialidad, sin la cual el hombre no se realiza
como persona.

A veces miramos a los demás ver por encima, superficialmente pero no los vemos, es
decir, no penetramos en su interior, que es lo importante. Nos quedamos en el atractivo,
en la ropa, en el encanto físico o en la apariencia, pero no nos fijamos en la persona
como tal, en sus cualidades esenciales, lo cual se logra solo con el trato intimo.

 PARA DAR HAY QUE TENER LO MEJOR

Es cosa bien sabida que nadie da de lo que no tiene, pero lo que hay que tener

en decisiones y en propósitos de la vida que son los cimientos sobre los que se
construye el propio proyecto de vida, lo que nos hará felices y capaces de
brindar esa felicidad a los demás.

Si hemos sido hechos tan perfectos, con un espíritu que tiende al infinito, con un
ansia de felicidad que no se colma plenamente en la tierra , ¿Por qué dejamos que
las cosas que no llenan el espíritu acallen la voz del alma?¿por qué el
consumismo y el activismo no nos dejan vivir en comunicación personal con los
demás y esta se reduce, muchas veces, a porloteo superficial, a hablar del clima ,
de la moda, de la comida y muy poco de los bienes esenciales: vida, amor, verdad,
trabajo, libertad, honestidad.

Miguel ángel decía también, contemplando las piezas de mármol antes de ser
trabajadas: “ahí está. Solo hay que quitarle lo que sobra”. Hay mucha cosa en
nosotros que sobra: pereza, comodidad, vanidad, i indolencia, deshonestidad.
Para vivir nuestra razón de ser, nuestro servicio a la sociedad, hay que
levantarse encaradamente sobre sí mismo para divisar mejor a los demás. Para
hacerse a sí mismo, hay que utilizar mucho cincel y martillo contra el material
noble, pero conforme que existe en nosotros y así modelar nuestra propia
personalidad, no simplemente nuestra singularidad para llamar la atención.

Hay que trabajar mucho, prepararse bien humana e intelectualmente,

profesionalmente. sin prisa pero sin pausa, dar más, si queremos estar en el
frente de la batalla por buscar una sociedad mejor, que solo puede hacerse con
hombres o mujeres mejores, con la capacidad de rebeldía frente a lo rutinario, a lo
establecido, al conformismo o a la pasividad.
 MUST HAVE TO GIVE THE BEST

autentica, ligada estrechamente a mi ser, confundida con él. Hay que vivir de cara
al futuro porque en el hacemos la vida, somos libres. Desprenderse del pasado,
de lo que nos arrastra hacia atrás, de la rémora, para avanzar decididamente a la
conquista de la felicidad.

La paradoja de la existencia humana es en palabras de san Agustín: ir buscando

ser más que hombres, en cuanto no podemos quedarnos en lo natural , en lo que
somos naturaleza, sino que hay que buscar en la existencia de cada día
