Entrepreneurship
Jaipuria Institute of Management is led by doyens of exceptional vision who have
always remained concerned about developing next generation thought leaders.
2006
Beginning with Seth Anandram Jaipuria's pioneering initiative to set up Jaipuria Jaipuria Institute
College in Calcutta as far as back in 1945, the commitment of the House of of Management
Jaipurias to providing superior quality education has only deepened and grown
since then. It is this heritage spanning over five decades and four generations that Jaipur Campus
distinguishes us from the others.

Commitment to education 2004

Jaipuria Institute
Besides Seth Anandram Jaipuria College in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta)
which had the distinction of being inaugurated by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the
of Management
House of Jaipurias later established a Jaipuria School each in the cities of Kanpur Noida Campus
and Lucknow. Both these schools are well known not only for imparting quality
education but also for effecting all-round development to the students. Jaipuria
school at Lucknow is ranked among the top ten in the entire country, as per IMRB
survey. Setting up of three Jaipuria Institutes of Management at Lucknow, NOIDA
and Jaipur, took this commitment to the next level. We are guided by an 1995
overarching mission to promote human well being through effective education. Jaipuria Institute

Jaipuria approach to learning
We believe in a learner-centric approach where learning is imparted using
various means suiting individual abilities and interests. Management being an
experiential discipline as opposed to experimental, Jaipuria believes “learning by 1945
doing” is one of the best means of internalization of various management Seth Anandram
concepts. The goal is to develop action oriented mindsets in our students. Hence,
continuous emphasis is on the need of trying out ideas or concepts in real Jaipuria College
situations. In other words, we do not see ourselves as routine producers of MBAs, Kolkata
but as shapers of managerial minds.

Jaipuria Edge
The education and experience that I got was really
encouraging & today I feel am doing well just because
of Jaipuria Institute of Management. Despite impressive gains in the numbers and quality of courses over the years, entrepreneurship education still
lives mostly on the fringes of academia, not in the mainstream. Our aim is to change this, making

PROCESSES FOLLOWED
It is our belief that no institution can move beyond the trivialities unless the various processed followed by the
institute are well-honed, rigorous, transparent, and free from prejudices. In the paragraphs that follow brief
details of the conduct of four critical processes at Jaipuria are outlined.

Admissions
Admissions to all the programmes at all the three institutes are strictly based on merit. The first screening is
invariably done using scores obtained by the applicants in one or other national level admission test like CAT,
All the three campuses conduct both 2-year full time AICTE approved PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma Programme in MAT, XAT, etc. (only CAT for PGDM programme at JIM, Lucknow). Shortlisted candidates are subsequently asked

Faculty is the back bone of Jaipuria B-schools. All the three campuses are staffed with qualified faculty who not only
have prior experience in academics, but some also have had corporate stints at the senior management level in
reputed business organizations. Orientation and Seasoning
Students are exposed to the demands and pressures of the corporate world right from the word go. This is done
not only by the internal members of faculty but also by corporate personalities, who keep putting the students in
various demanding situations and ask them to deliver. Through this process the toughening takes place as the

Contemporary Syllabus

Developed with the objective to groom Managers not mere MBAs, the vision of the Jaipuria PGDM programmes is to
develop world-class professionals with strong value systems. Believing in experiential learning the pedagogy followed
encourages students to go beyond the class room and learn more on the basis of research and application based art of
management. The syllabi and curricula are constantly updated to meet these growing demands.

The curriculum is so designed that in the first year, it enables the students to strengthen the fundamentals in all areas of
functional management and provides a holistic perspective of general management as well as lays emphasis on building
communication, computer and quantitative skills.

The second year provides inputs in the chosen area of specialization and is customized to the student's career focus and
industry requirements. The three trimesters in the second year are geared towards an in-depth understanding of the
respective fields of specialization. Thus, making the student ready to lead real life challenges.

Industry oriented curricula focusing on global perspective,

futuristic orientation, strategy implementation and soft skills

Industrial Visits

Industry visits supplement the theoretical knowledge with practical inputs through direct interaction with corporate heads
in a live setting. This helps the students to gain in-depth understanding of the specific challenges faced by an organization
and also in development of case studies and projects.

Jaipuria has strong relationship with various corporate entities and their associations. The regular industrial visits and
other similar activities foster academia-industry relationship.

The scarcest resource in business today is leadership. Many forget that it is people who serve customers, create new
ideas and make companies great. How everyone feels about working in the organization and how passionate and
engaged they are in its agenda, is what makes the difference between good and great organizations. As leaders, our
main responsibility is to create an environment of opportunity and challenge for our people, to enhance their
capacity to produce and create, and to stimulate, release and focus the energy that without leadership would remain
latent.

May I have the pleasure of inviting you to our campus, to meet the budding managers and interact with our faculty. I
am confident that it will be an enriching experience.

Programme Structure & Framework
PGDM (RETAIL MANAGEMENT)
Two year full time “Post Graduate Diploma in Retail Management”
(AICTE approved, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India)

India is very soon going to witness what can very appropriately be termed as the Retail Revolution. This can be attributed
to factors such as growing middle class population, increase in the income levels and purchasing power and high
aspirational levels of the average Indian. Of late there has been a deluge of hyper markets, supermarkets, and multi-
shopping outlets, or the life style stores where people are thronging in galores. But all this hustle and bustle and the
maddening mayhem of Indian consumerism is coming with a huge challenge of the dearth of proficient and adequately
trained manpower or human resource that will prove to be instrumental in tapping the vast potential that the retail sector
has to offer. India has earned the soubriquet of a 'nation of shopkeepers'. Retail is the next largest employer after
agriculture. If long term growth projections for this sector prove true, it would be wise to conclude that the sector has
enormous employment opportunities that are expected to unfold in the coming years.

The Programme
• JIM Lucknow after having deciphered the need and the existing gap between the opportunities and trained
professionals in the retail sector pioneered a novel and unique programme “Post Graduate Diploma in
Management (Retail)”
• The programme is a professional program which prepares graduates to enter in the field of retailing. Tailor-made to
the specific requirements of the industry, the course has been designed after much research in close connection with
the contemporary standards and norms of the existing Retail Industry.
• The curriculum of PGDM (Retail) include retail specific subjects like Supply chain management, MIS in Retail, Store
Operations Management, Retail selling skills, Store design, layout and merchandising, electronic retailing, category
management,.
• Students also learn about sales promotion with public relation, inventory management, customer relationship,
business ethics, retail brand management, business communication, management and organizational behavior,
quantitative methods in retailing.

Ample opportunity to meet new people, learn from

their experiences and allow them to learn from yours,
exists within the learning process

Teaching Pedagogy
The pedagogy is a judicious blend of class interactions for conceptual grounding and other practical tools for hands on
learning. Class room teaching focuses on proactive learning strategies for the students which are at the same time
intertwined with the real-time industry experience through store visits and summer training at leading retailing

PGDM companies. Other pedagogical tools include Role Plays, Simulations, Case studies and presentations etc.
