HUNTERSVILLE, NC:

The Huntersville Police Department will be hosting a R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) basic self
defense class for women only in August of 2010. The class is a twelve-hour block of instruction that
is held over two consecutive Saturdays. The date for the first class is Saturday, August 7th 9 a.m. – 3
p.m. and the second class will be Saturday, August 14th 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Both of the classes will have
a lunch break and will be held in the training room at the Huntersville Police Department.

For nearly twenty years, R.A.D. Systems has been creating opportunities for women to realize their
inner power and strength. The Huntersville Police Department is proud to offer this training to the
women of our community. This training will be delivered by R.A.D. trained and certified sworn Police
Officers of the Department in an atmosphere of respect and honor.

The cornerstone of R.A.D. Systems has its foundations in education and awareness. Rape
Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) means philosophically “defense against abduction.” The course
includes lecture, lively discussion and simple self defense techniques, suitable for women of all
ages and abilities. Classes are generally limited to 16 – 20 participants and Town of Huntersville
residents have priority.

The cost of the class is $35 (which covers both Saturday classes), and if you are interested in
enrolling or would like more information, please call Detective Susan Espinoza at (704)875-6542 or
sespinoza@huntersville.org
