What I observed:
Mishayla,
I enjoyed observing your class on Tuesday. You started the lesson by having your students participate
some physical activity. You had student sitting in front of you on the floor. You then linked this activity to
action words using a projector to help students visualize the sentences. You told the students that you
were going to show a video of monkeys. After the video you guided the students in a brainstorming
session where the students were to come up with action words that would describe how monkeys move.
Examples were eat, hop, jump, wiggle leap, et. Next you gave the students a definition for a compete
sentence. You then had students use the action words that they had come up with to write complete
sentences. You used a lot of questions for students to help them go deeper. i.e. Monkeys can wiggle.
Okay who can tell me how monkeys wiggle. Example: Monkeys can wiggle fast.

Observations included:

You used a fun attention activity to get student ready for the lesson. You did good job of accessing
the students prior knowledge of action words by relating them to the physical activity.
You kept the students interest by giving the opportunities to come up with their own words to
describe monkeys
your kept students focused on the objective by using the projector to help the students see the
action words and sentences.
You projected well with the students using good voice quality and intonation.
Your students were attentive and focused.
You kept the lesson quick paced and fun, keeping a clear focus on the objective.
The lesson flowed well with each activity building on the next.
You gained closure for the lesson by quickly reviewing the learning goal for the day. You defined the
learning goal and reviewed what a sentence is.

Connections/conclusions/Goal Work on gaining closure for the lesson by reviewing briefly

what you had accomplished with the lesson
