Self-Evaluation of a Lesson Plan Taught

1. What steps did you go through to create this lesson? With whom did you talk, discuss,
or edit your lesson?
Since I had some difficulties with my previous lesson plan, I asked my cooperating
teacher for help. We talked about the lesson plan and discussed many things with each
other. She was a big help because I honestly was a little clueless.
2. How did the SOLs and Objectives help focus your instruction?
The SOLs helped guide me in the right direction to know what to teach the students,
I didnt have any objectives, maybe because my students are younger.
3. What parts of the instructional plan worked as you anticipated?
Everything worked as plan but the amount of time was very limited because my
students have lunch right in the middle of me being there, therefore, I was only able to fit
1 reading group in.
4. What, if any, adjustments needed to be made once you began?
Well I have a student that is ADHD; therefore I made sure he sat next to me during
the activity.
5. How well did you anticipate the materials needed?
It was clearly written on the SOL requirements that the students needed to read a
book.
6. How effective was the assessment you chose to use? (If no assessment was used, what
will the future assessment be and how will you gauge its effectiveness?)
The assessment was listening to the students answers towards the questions and
listening to them read. If a student has difficulty reading, the student will go in a
lower reading level, vice versa.
7. To what degree do you feel that this lesson was a success? What evidence do you have
for the success of the lesson? (Hint: Student learning is the key to a lessons success!)
Well, in order to see if the students are learning is by progress, if a student is
accelerating in their reading group thats a sign of success. But some students take
time to process new material they learn. All students learn at a different pace.
8. How did the time spent preparing for your lesson contribute to its success?
Well Ive done my lesson multiple times so it was nothing new to me, besides the
more in depth questions. My lesson plan was highly successful because I had done
the lesson many times.
9. If you could do this lesson again with the same students, would you do anything
differently? If so, what?
I would just change the book because it was very boring and I can tell the students
didnt really like it as much.
