Rationale
Why would you use this writing activity in your classroom?
1) Since the topic is familiar to learners and most of them would be interested in the topic, they can come up with many
ideas. It helps students reduce their anxiety to writing and enjoy presenting their ideas in English
2) This activity encourages students to develop their English proficiency: vocabulary, grammar, and structure
Could this activity be easily adapted to different teaching contexts? If so how? If not, why not?
Yes, because teachers can easily change the level of the activity by controlling the amount of information given for the
activity. (controlled writing to free writing) For example, lower level learners would be given more words or phrases to
use for their writing. (or they simply complete the sentence by filling out the blank.) Higher level learners would be given
more freedom to use their own words to complete the task.
