KristiSorgenfreihasbeenafacultymemberofSchoolcraftLearningCommunityforovertwoyears,anditismypleasureto
recommendherasaprofessionaleducator.AtSchoolcraft,aK8ELEducationcharterschoolserving185studentsin
northernMinnesota,IhavehadthepleasureofworkingwithMs.Sorgenfreiinacoachingcapacity.Duringthistime,Ihave
supportedherindevelopingsecuremanagementandclassroomculturepractices.Wehavecollaboratedindesigningstrong
instruction,studentengagedassessmentandinterdisciplinarycurriculumforheryoungstudents.

Throughout the pasttwoyears,Kristihascontributedtoourschoolcommunity bothinandoutsidetheclassroom.First,asa


classroom teacher, Kristi excels in many ways. Herlessonsarewellresearchedandplanned. Theyarethendeliveredwith
a highlevel ofenthusiasm thereby capturing the students attention. Asaresult,Ms.Sorgenfreisclassishighlymotivated
tolearnthecontent ofthelessonandtoputinthe necessaryefforttoexplorenewideasandstrategies.Beginningwithmath,
and workingherwayintoothersubjects,shehascreatedacomprehensivesystemofstudentengagedassessment tools. Her
students track their own progress with clear links between standardsbased learning targets and evidenceof growth and
achievementdocumentedinportfolios.

Ms. Sorgenfreis expedition case studies and lessons are designed to integrate the Minnesota state standards. These
inquiries are challenging, requiring a considerable amount of thought and planning above and beyond normal curricular
expectationsin elementary school. She values theISTE technology standards,and creatively incorporates a varietyofage
appropriatetechnologytoolsandskillsintoherhighqualityandauthenticproducts.

Kristi forms strong and caring connections with herstudents,makingthem feel safe and comfortable.Shecreatesin her
students a love of learning and a sense of responsibility for themselves and their class. Ms. Sorgenfrei is effective in
accommodating special needs students, utilizing extra resourcesandhelpandensuringthattheneedsofeachindividualare
met.

Outside the classroom, Kristi volunteered for multiple extracurricular activities, including theMightyMilersrunningclub,
Ski Cluband Forest Club. Through these activities,Kristiformedrelationshipswithstudents acrosstheschool,providinga
safe environment for them to learn and practice new skills. For the past two years, she has served on the Technology
Committee the School Board, and two board subcommittees, the
board development committee, and board election
committee
. During this time, Ms. Sorgenfrei participated in collaborative work with professionalism and contributed
significantideas.

Ms.Sorgenfreistrivestoimproveherskillsandknowledgeintheteachingprofession.Sheactivelyseeksoutwaystofurther
herowneducation,andimmediatelyapplieswhatshelearnstoherclassroom.Sheconstantlypushesherselftogrowasa
wholeperson.Hertalentanddedicationasateacherwillbeatremendousassettoanyclassroom.Itiswithouthesitationthat
IrecommendKristiSorgenfreiasaprofessionaleducator.
