JSEC awards scholarships to Valley County students

The Glasgow Job Service
Employers
Committee
(JSEC)
awarded four scholarships to Valley
County high school seniors who
are continuing their education after
graduation.

Senior students Logan Gunderson
(Glasgow), Mary Fewer (Glasgow),
Delaney Beil (Hinsdale), and Chloe
Koessl (Nashua) received scholarships
to use toward college expenses. Eight
students competed for the scholarship
money. Final awards were based on a
panel interview in which students
described their plans to meet their
educational and occupational goals.
Funding was provided by Valley
County employers who share the
JSECs desire to improve our future
workforce by encouraging youth
to continue their education. Stacey
Amundson, JSEC Chair, said that
employers donated $1,200 this year,
all of which was distributed to the
students.
Each
of
the
students
demonstrated high aspirations.
Three intend to pursue careers in
health care, which Amundson said

is expected to have high demand for

employment as the Baby-Boomer
generation ages. Logan Gunderson
and Chloe Koessl plan to attend
Montana State University to pursue
careers as medical doctors. Delaney
Beil has accepted an offer to attend
Great Falls College MSU to study
nursing. Mary Fewer intends to
study finance at University of
Montana with her intention to one
day direct political campaigns.
Amundson
said
eighteen
businesses generously contributed to
the scholarship this year. This is nearly
twice as many as previous years. She
said this may be a reflection of the
frustration employers are feeling in
finding dependable workers who
show up on time, offer excellent
customer service and work hard while
on the clock. JSEC Coordinator Sue
Dalbey for the Glasgow Job Service
office confirmed, Projections show
a real shortage in workers over the
next 10 years. Hiring challenges will
likely continue. Montanas two year
colleges and apprenticeship programs
are working hard to improve on-line

and certificate programs that offer

more realistic training opportunities
for rural residents. In the long run,
this should help our local employers
find skilled workers who love living in
Eastern Montana.
The
following
businesses
contributed to the scholarship this
year: KLTZ/KLAN, Pink Hammer
Construction, D&G Sports and
Western, Fort Peck Community Credit
Union, Frances Mahon Deaconess
Hospital, First Community Bank,
Prairie Ridge Village, City of Glasgow,
MARCO, Eugenes Pizza Inc, Valley
View Home, Fossum Ready Mix,
Taco Shack, Rae Cox (Sams), Dirk
Markle (Ace), Glasgow Automobile &
Implement Dealers, Helland Agency,
United Insurance, Cottonwood Inn &
Suites, First Lutheran Youth Fund.
The JSEC meets monthly at
the Glasgow Job Service office
to discuss and organize training
workshops, scholarships and address
local employer issues. For more
information, contact Stacey at 2282476 or Sue at the Glasgow Job
Service, 228-3926.

National FFA Scholarships Awarded to Local Students

Farm Equipment Sales, Inc, John Deere Company, and the National FFA Foundation have partnered
to award $2,000 college scholarships to 4 Eastern Montana FFA students. Currently, more than
120 sponsors contribute more than $2.2 million to support scholarships for students. For 31 years,
scholarships have been made available through funding secured by the National FFA Foundation.
This generous funding comes from individuals, businesses and corporate sponsors to encourage
excellence and enable students to pursue their educational goals.
These FES scholarships are 4 of 1,788 scholarships awarded in 2016 through the National FFA
Organization. 2016 marks the 32nd year FFA Foundation Scholarships have been made available
by the generous partnership donations from individuals, businesses like Farm Equipment Sales, and
corporate sponsors like John Deere Company to encourage excellence and enable students to pursue
their educational goals in agriculture. 116 sponsors contributed more than $2.6 million to support
FFA scholarships for 1 out of every 5 applicants pursing degrees in agriculture related fields. The FFA
Collegiate Scholarship Program has awarded over $44 million in scholarships since 1984.

To Apply for the FES FFA Scholarship in 2017

The 2017 scholarship application will be available at www.FFA.org beginning on November 15, 2016, and must be completed by
5:00 P.M. on February 1, 2017. Scholarships are available to students pursuing agriculture related degrees or vocational programs
at two-year or four-year colleges and universities. FFA activities, work experience, leadership activities, academic record, and
financial need are all considered in scholarship selection. FFA members are eligible to receive one scholarship as a graduating high
school senior, and a second scholarship during college.

alumni, the foundation is a separately-registered nonprofit organization. About 82 percent of every dollar received by the foundation

As President Obamas
minions
in
Congress
desperately try to push H.R.
3185 a bill that will amend
the Civil Rights Act of 1964
to make men using womens
bathroom facilities a civil
right through Congress,
Barack Obama is acting as
if his lunatic law is already
the law of the land and has
targeted the State of North
Carolina for punishment.

As Fox News reported, the
Obama Regime is contending
that a North Carolina law that
prohibits men from using
womens restrooms, violates
federal civil rights laws and
cant be enforced... putting
the state on notice that it is
in danger of being sued and
losing hundreds of millions
of dollars in federal funding.
But the demand simply
doesnt apply to North
Carolina. North Carolina
Governor Pat McCrory has
already explained that the

demand letter he received from the Department of

Injustice, applies to EVERYONE.
As recently reported by LifeNews.com: The
battle over men accessing womens bathrooms and
vice versa has little do with bathrooms or even
transgenderism, a well-known LGBT activist
admitted last week. It has everything to do with reworking society and getting rid of the heterobinary
structure in which we liveeliminating distinctions
between male and female altogether.
As David Kupelian, the managing editor of WND
put it, we must all be forced to accept the premise
that the desperate but impossible quest to morph
into the opposite sex, is perfectly normal and we must
all join in the pretense or be demonized or legally
prosecuted.
Equality Act (H.R.3185)

Amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include sex, sexual

orientation, and gender identity among the prohibited
categories of discrimination or segregation in places of
public accommodation.
Defines:
sex to include a sex stereotype, sexual orientation or
gender identity, and pregnancy, childbirth, or a related
medical condition;
sexual orientation as homosexuality, heterosexuality,
or bisexuality; and
gender identity as gender-related identity, appearance,
mannerisms, or characteristics, regardless of the
individuals designated sex at birth.
Expands the categories of public accommodations to include
places or establishments that provide:
exhibitions,
recreation,
exercise,
amusement,
gatherings, or displays;
goods, services, or programs, including a store, a
shopping center, an online retailer or service provider,
a salon, a bank, a gas station, a food bank, a service or
care center, a shelter, a travel agency, a funeral parlor,
or a health care, accounting, or legal service; or
transportation services.
Prohibits establishment from being construed to be limited
to a physical facility or place.
Authorizes the Department of Justice (DOJ) to bring a civil
action if it receives a complaint from an individual who claims
to be:
denied equal utilization of a public facility owned,
operated, or managed by a state (other than public
schools or colleges) on account of sex, sexual orientation,
or gender identity; or
denied admission to, or not permitted to continue
attending, a public college by reason of sexual orientation

or gender identity, thereby expanding DOJs existing

authority to bring such actions for complaints based on
race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Revises public school desegregation standards to
provide for the assignment of students without regard to
sexual orientation or gender identity.
Prohibits programs or activities receiving federal financial
assistance from denying benefits to, or discriminating
against, persons based on sex, sexual orientation, or gender
identity.
Prohibits employers with 15 or more employees from
discriminating based on sexual orientation or gender identity,
subject to the same exceptions and conditions that currently
apply to unlawful employment practices based on race,
color, religion, sex, or national origin. Requires employers
to recognize individuals in accordance with their gender
identity if sex is a bona fide occupational qualification that
is reasonably necessary to the normal operation of that
particular business or enterprise.
Provides government employees with protections against
discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Authorizes DOJ to intervene in equal protection actions in
federal court on account of sexual orientation or gender
identity.
Requires protections against discrimination based on race,
color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or
national origin to include protections against discrimination
based on: (1) an association with another person who is a
member of such a protected class; or (2) a perception or
belief, even if inaccurate, that an individual is a member of
such a protected class. Prohibits the Religious Freedom
Restoration Act of 1993 from providing a claim, defense, or
basis for challenging such protections.
Prohibits an individual from being denied access to a shared
facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and a dressing
room, that is in accordance with the individuals gender
identity.
Amends the Fair Housing Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity
Act, and jury selection standards to add sexual orientation and
gender identity as classes protected against discrimination
under such laws.
