This article focuses on young childrens opinion of cyberbullying. According to the article,
cyberbullying isnt very common among young kids, as they dont yet have the means of
technology. For children they are more experienced in playground bullying. In a survey
elementary students ages 11-12 from four different elementary schools, were asked their opinion
on cyberbullying. The students were unable to be distinguish between bullying and innocent
pranks showing that frequency and intention are key variables. I chose this document because it
will aid me in bringing another perspective to the topic.

This article analyzes cyberbullying, the psychology of it, and preventative measures. The article
discusses who these bullies are and outcomes and causes of these situations. Most cyberbullies
have been the victims themselves or are the victim. Cyberbullies typically bully each other and
therefore are both bullies and victims. Whatever the role they play, the outcome is never good.
The article argues whether or not the idea of federal criminal legislation is the right way to go.
Bringing law into it may not prevent it and may just be confusing to youth, according to the
article. Bringing law into the internet can be very difficult with how loose the internets security
is. I chose this article because it looks at prevention measures for cyberbullying and gives two
sides on the pros and cons of bringing laws and legislation into the equation.

This book focuses on cyberbullying and the harm it does to todays youth. Nancy Willard defines
cyberbullying as using the Internet or cell phones to send harmful messages or post information
thats designed to damage the reputation or friendships of others (12). Susan Hayes, another
author featured in the book, explains that the effects of bullying can be devastating and can result
in fatality. According to Haynes the cyberbullies that people encounter on social media are
typically former friends, rather than anonymous people. Cyberbullies reach their victims via
internet, phones, computer, and social media making it easy for them to not be caught.
Cyberbullies can speak freely by hiding behind a pseudonym, with less risk of being caught. I
chose this book as a source because it has very useful information on the topic of cyberbullying
and its effects.

This article examines the relationship of cyberbullying with self-compassion and its occurrence
among adolescence. The article contains research on a group of students and the elements of selfcompassion and cyberbullying. The results showed that victimization positively correlated with
isolation, self-judgement, overidentification. The article connects feelings to the causes and
effects of cyberbullying. This is useful to clinicians treating cyberbullying victims by telling
them to improve self-compassion. I chose this article because it shows both the cause and effect
of cyberbullying.

This article defines cyberbullying and its upbringing. According to the article, bullying is a social
problem and with the development of social technology, there are new means of bullying. Bullies
can communicate harmful things via text message, instant message, direct message, or posting on
social media about another person to ruin their reputation or hurt them socially. This has become
a huge problem because students who are bullied have tendencies to harm themselves, commit
suicide, dropout, or suffer humiliation at school. The article also refers to state and federal laws
that can deter cyberbullies. I chose this article because it digs deeper into the coming about of
cyberbullying and its definition.
