I establish good eye contact with my class. I

do not talk over their heads, to the blackboard
or to just one individual.
If I tend to teach predominantly to one area of
the classroom, I am aware of this.
I make a conscious effort at all times to pay
attention to all students equally.
I divide my students into small groups in an
organized and principled manner.
I recognize that these groups should differ in
size and composition, varying with the

B. The Classroom

I arrange the seating in my class to suit the

class activity for the day.
I consider the physical comfort of the room
such as heat and light.
When I need special materials or equipment, I
have them set up before the class begins.

Literacy
C. Presentation

My handwriting on the blackboard and /or

charts is legible from all locations in the
classroom. It is large enough to accommodate
students with vision impairments.
I speak loudly enough to be heard in all parts of
the classroom and I enunciate clearly.
I vary the exercises in class, alternating rapid
and slow paced activities to keep up maximum

Notes:
Yes I established good eye contact involving all
students.
I did not arrange my students into small groups
because my cooperating teacher informed me
that they do not work well working in groups.

Notes:
I had a student who usually sits at the very front
of the room against the white board and I
moved him into an empty desk so that he could
see all of the visuals. (I made sure this was
okay with the teacher before I asked him to
move.)
The room is actually always the perfect
temperature so the temperature of the room was
not an issue.
I had all of my materials and manipulatives
ready to use. The only thing that I did not have
up and ready was the projector and the screen,
because I needed the board cleared so that we
could measure it and write the dimensions.
Although everything was ready for the video to
be played, all I had to do is pull down the
screen, turn on the projector and press play.

Notes:

I believe that my handwriting was large enough

and the handwriting on my visual aids was
legible. Although I do feel as if my
handwriting on the board for the problems that
we worked together during class could have
been better.
I definitely spoke loud enough and clear
enough for all students to hear me.

interest level in the class.

I am prepared to give a variety of explanations,
models or descriptions, understanding that
one explanation may not be sufficient for all
students.
I help the students form working principles and
generalizations.
Students use new skills or concepts long
enough so that they are retained and thus future
application is possible.
I plan for "thinking time for my students so
they can organize their thoughts and plan what
they are going to say or do.

Diversity
D. Culture and Adjustment
o I am aware that cultural differences affect the
learning situation.
o I keep the cultural background(s) of my
students in mind when planning daily activities
and am aware of culture misunderstandings
which might arise from the activities I choose.
o I work for an atmosphere of understanding and
mutual respect.
o I tell students when they have done well, but I
dont let praise become mechanical.
o My activites are varied, some more visual,
aural, oral and kinesthetic. I provide models,
examples, and experiences to maximize
learning in each of these areas.

Professionalism
B. Self-concepts
o I treat my students with the same respect that I
expect them to show me.
o I plan one-centred activities which give all
students an opportunity at some point to feel
important and accepted.
C. Aptitude and Perception
o I am aware that my students learn differently.
o My exercises are varied, some ore visual, aural,
oral and kinesthetic. I provide models,

I think that I varied the exercises in class

enough for students to stay interested.
Yes I am ready to provide a variety of
explanations
I think that I helped students form working
principles about perimeter

I think that the students worked on this skill

long enough that they retained the information I
provided them with.

I let students plan and decide what type shape

they were going to make by letting them an
ample amount of time and giving them plenty
of wiggle room for creativity.

Notes:
I am very aware of the cultural differences in
my classroom and how they affect learning.
I used music that I knew they would love
because they sing and dance all day, so I
thought ,Why not include it in my lesson?
I chose the activities, manipulatives and the
teaching that I presented intentionally because I
thought they would get the most out of it.
I definitely praise the students, because I want
them to not only know I am proud of their
work, but I want them to be proud of their own
work.
The activities varied and the I had several
models that I presented them with.

Notes:
I respect my students and they respect me, but
at times I do have to remind them that I am a
teacher and an adult that they must treat as they
would Mrs. Philpot.
While students worked on their shapes I walked
around and praised each of them for their work
and their initiative.

examples, and experiences to maximize

learning in each of these areas.
I finish my class period in a way which will
review the new concepts presented during the
class period. My students can immediately
evaluate their understanding of those concepts.

III. The Activity

Interaction
o The activities maximize student involvement.
o The activities are organized to insure a high
success rate, leaving enough room for error to
make the activity challenging.
o The activity is focused.
o The activity is geared to the proficiency level of
my class or slightly beyond.
o I make the content of the activity relevant and
meaningful to my students world.

I am definitely aware that my students learn

differently. For list lesson I was at Tarrant
Intermediate and each class is grouped by
reading level and this class was the bottom
unfortunately. But to my surprise the students
learning levels are far from the same, every
student is on their own person level in their
learning and all learn differently without a
doubt.
My exercises varied
I reviewed the concepts at the end of the class

Notes:
The activity definitely maximized student
involvement
I do think I could have had more guidelines
because yes it is goof for students to have room
to be creative, but too much room can be chaos.
I think that I should have given the students less
straws and told them to make one of the shapes
that I presented to them.
The activity was focus
Yes this activity was geared to the proficiency
level of the class and even beyond
I made the activity and its content relevant to
students and their world
