Todate,over320,000peoplehavebeenkilledinthecivilwarinSyriaandinattemptsto
fleetheirwartorncountry.Intodaysmodernworldthesenumbersareoutrageousand
unacceptable.TheprobleminSyriabeganwhenDictatorBashar,abandonedtheneedsofhis
people.ThiscreatedanuprisinginSyria.InthisuprisingnotonlydidISISbloom,butalsoother
rebelgroupsbecamestronger.Morepeopletooktothestreetsinprotestsofthegovernment.The
peopleofSyriawantedacountrywherefamiliescanliveandworkinasafeplaceandnotawar
zone.
CurrentlybothRussiaandtheUnitedStatesareinvolvedinattemptstostabilizeSyria,
althoughonopposingsidesoftheconflictwhichiscausingfriction.
Thiscivilwarisnotonly
affectinglivesofSyriansnowbutalsoaffectingfuturegenerationscareersandlivesaswell.
Whilethereareanumberoforganizationsalreadyworkingtoaddresstheissue,Iwillbe
workingwiththeQueenofPeacefoundation,amiddleeasternorganizationthathelpsand
supportsdistressedandunderprivilegedchildrenandrefugeesaroundthemiddleeast.
ThebrutalityoftheSyriangovernmentalongwiththebrutalityandintoleranceofISIShas
createdtherefugeecrisis,whereabout30percentoftheSyrianpopulationhasfledtheirhomes
intoneighboringcountries.
SincetheSyriancivilwarbegan,320,000peoplehavebeenkilled,
includingnearly12,000children.About1.5millionpeoplehavebeenwoundedorpermanently
disabled,accordingtotheSyrianObservatoryforHumanRights.Thewarhasbecomemore
deadlysinceforeignpowersjoinedtheconflict(Worldvision,2016).Theenormousnumberof
peoplewhohavediedasaresultoftheconflictandthenumberofpeoplepushedfromtheir
homesduetotheviolencehaspromptedamassiveinternationalresponse.Currently,bothRussia
andtheUnitedStatesareinvolvedinaddressingtheprobleminSyria,althoughonoppositesides
oftheconflict.ThereasonforsuchviolenceanddistressinSyriaisbecauseofISISfighting

againsttheSyriangovernmentandterminatinganyoneinthereway(whichareusuallyinnocent
citizensofsyriaandchildren).Bothsidesoftheconflictareactinginharshandbrutalways,
causingmassivegroupsofSyriancitizenstofleeandseeksafetyinothercountries.Therefugee
crisishasarisenoutofthehugeinfluxofpeoplepouringintoothercountries,manyofwhichare
strugglingthemselves.Forexample,Lebanon,JordanandGreecetogetherhaveabout2.5
millionrefugees.Thesecountriescannotfinanciallyhandlethemassiveimpourofcivilians
(Worldvision,2016).
Duetogeographicproximity,southernEuropeandneighboringcountriesintheMiddle
Easthavethebruntoftherefugeecrisis.Thesecountriesareleastabletosupporthugenumbers
ofneedypeoplebecausetheyarerelativelypoorwithlowGDPs.TheUnitedStateshowever,
hasarelativelyhighGDPandshouldbedoingmorefortherefugees.TheUnitedstatesareonly
allowingabout8,000Syrianrefugeesin.Assuch,IhavechosentoworkwiththeSyrian
refugeestodothisIwillbecreatingfundraisersandobtainingdonationstosendintotheQueen
ofPeacefoundation,wherewewillreceiveinformationbackontheliveswehavehelpedand
whatproductsarebeingboughtwiththemoneythathasbeenraised.
Inthemiddleofallthispoliticalviolencegoingon,innocentcitizensstillliveinSyria
caughtupintheviolenceandleadingthemtorunfortheirlives.Theserefugeesareturningto
othercountriesinboththeMiddleEastandEurope,likeTurkey,Lebanon,Jordan,Iraqand
Egypt,aswellasinWesternEuropeforsafetyandcompassion.Mostofthesecountriescannot
affordtohelpandsupporttheserefugeesandmanyofthemdiscourageanyandallrefugeesfrom
enteringtheircountries.

ThemaininternationalresponsesthathaveaneffectonthiscrisisistheUnitedStates,
andbothcountriessupportoppositesidesoftheconflict.Themainconcernwithlettingan
appropriatenumberofrefugeesinisthattherefugeescouldpossiblyattractterrorist,theyfear
forthesafetyoftheUScitizens.AlthoughmanypeoplewonderiftheUSisactinginacautious
orprejudicewaybylettingasmallamountofrefugeesin.
Throughallofthischaosinnocentchildrenarebeingseparatedfromtheirfamilieseitherby
forceorarelostatwar.Childrenarecomingtogetherinpackstosurvive.Manyofthemhave
healthissuesandarecravingtogobacktoschoolandcontinuetogetaneducation.Thiscivil
warisn'tjustaffectinglivesnowbutaffectingfuturegenerationscareersandlives.Children
involvedwillbeforeverinvolved.Itseemsthoughmanyinternationalresponsesarenothelping
thechildcrisis.Whatmustbedoneistosendoversuppliesofwhateverthesyrianrefugeesneed
especiallythechildren,itmightbemoreblanketsorjustschoolbookandwritingutensils.This
actionwillmakeahugedifferenceforthechildren'slivesnowandwillhelptheirfuturesbe
brighter.
Theresultsofallthiscauseschaosinmanydifferentcountriesandadecreaseinpopulation
inSyria.Therefugeesareseekingshelterandsafetyfortheirfamilies.AlthoughtheUnited
Statesarerejectingmanyofthem,therefugeesarefindingcamptostayatbutstillneedsimple
humannecessities.TheSyrianrefugeesneedshelterandfoodandthechildrenwanttheirfriends
andeducationback.Throughthisaction,theirliveswillbealittlemorebearableandwill
brightenupthenextgenerationsfutures
.
