Specifying Geometry

Training Manual

Copy the sm.agdb file to

your working directory
Start Workbench and
double-click the Mesh entry
in the Component Systems
panel
Import Geometry/Browse
Browse to the sm.agdb file
you copied and click Open

Initial Mesh

Set Physics preference to CFD

and select the FLUENT or CFX
solver
Right click on Mesh and Insert a
Mesh Method. Select all 4 bodies
from the Model View and set
method to Tetrahedrons and
Algorithm to Patch Conforming
Right click on Mesh and choose
Generate Mesh.
Check the mesh and view the
sizes

Refined Mesh

Training Manual

Set relevance center to fine,

generate mesh and check
Reduce curvature normal to
5 degree generate mesh and
check
Hide one of the side pipes
and view the mesh on the
intersection surface
Show the side pipe, switch
off the other parts and view
again. Note Mesh is
conform between parts

Using Inflation

Right-click on Mesh object and

insert and Inflation
Click on the inflation, select
the 4 bodies for geometry and
press apply
Click on boundary, select the
out wall faces and press apply
Set option to Total Thickness
and th parameters Number of
Layers to 5, Growth Rate to 1,2
and Maximum Thickness to
200 mm
