Dr. Brian Haggerty

Senior Associate Director of Residential Life
University at Buffalo
100 Red Jacket Quadrangle
Buffalo, NY 14261
Dear Dr. Brian Haggerty,
It is my pleasure to submit my resume for the position of Residence Hall Director at the University at Buffalo.
After serving in the role as Assistant Hall Director for the past two years at UB, I believe the experiences I have
had make me an excellent candidate to continue serving the Campus Living department in a full-time capacity.
Student affairs and residence life has become a passion for me over the past few years because it is a field that
allows for the holistic development of students. My experience living in the residence halls as an undergraduate
student allowed for me to explore aspects of my identity which I would not have been able to do otherwise. As
a result, I am strongly committed as a professional to fostering an environment of educational and personal
growth opportunities for residential students on college campuses, and I believe the structure of the residential
curriculum at UB allows for students to develop in a multitude of ways. By outlining core values of self,
academic success, interpersonal, and community, UB has demonstrated it is committed to the growth of its
students, and is exactly the type of institution I envision myself beginning my career. Once you have reviewed
my resume, I believe you will find that I possess the experience to continue to enhance the University at Buffalo
and its residential life department.
One of the aspects of UB that I have always appreciated is the commitment to professional development for
both part-time and full-time professionals. As an Assistant Hall Director, I have been able to identify several
opportunities for professional growth outside of my core job responsibilities, including being involved in
committees, additional projects, and a variety of programmatic initiatives. The full-time position provides an
overall experience that allows for growth, especially with the unique opportunity to supervise a graduate
student, which is an opportunity that is very appealing to me. The departments continuous commitment and
devotion to professional development for its staff members is admirable, and as someone who has a strong
passion for professional development, I believe I would be an excellent fit to continue my professional career at
the University at Buffalo.
Thank you for your consideration of my resume and references. If you have questions or need additional
information, please contact me at (607) 342-5707, or by email at timothyjgray92@gmail.com. I look forward to
hearing from you soon about an interview.
Sincerely,

Timothy J. Gray
