MARK 10:1-12
Jesus then left that place and went into the
region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again
crowds of people came to him, and as was his
custom, he taught them.
2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by
asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his
wife?
3 "What did Moses command you?" he replied.
4 They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a
certificate of divorce and send her away.
5 "It was because your hearts were hard that
Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied.
MARK 10:1-12
6 "But at the beginning of creation God `made
them male and female.' 7 `For this reason a man
will leave his father and mother and be united to
his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.' So
they are no longer two, but one.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let
man not separate.
10 When they were in the house again, the
disciples asked Jesus about this. 11 He
answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and
marries another woman commits adultery
against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband
and marries another man, she commits
adultery."

HARDENED HEART?
The opposite would be a heart that is softened,
mellowed, gentle, and open.
Pharaoh hardened his heart (Exodus 8:15ff),
He determnined to handle it himself in his own
way.
He determined to respond in the natural
inclination of his flesh, to do what he felt like
doing in the situation, to ignore God.
When you determine that you are not going to
pay attention to what God reveals about a
situation and handle it yourself, thereby
withdrawing from significant others and God
SOFTENED HEART?
A heart is always soft, when it recognizes that
its ability to handle a situation, should come
from a demonstrated reliance upon the wisdom,
power, and love of God.
This is always what keeps the heart tender, and
reasonable an open recognition and practice
before all, of the need and design, that what it
takes, is a reliance upon the wisdom and love of
God, and an obedience to
Him for success in handling things.

JOHN 17:20-26
"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for
those who will believe in me through their
message,
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as
you are in me and I am in you. May they also be
in us so that the world may believe that you have
sent me.
22 I have given them the glory that you gave me,
that they may be one as we are one:
23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought
to complete unity to let the world know that you
sent me and have loved them even as you have
loved me.
