Mangalia Business Schools Five-Year Plan

Target
As mentioned before, schools around the world are often competing to get more students
enrolled in their institutions. For a place like MBS, it makes it hard to compete with giants like
Harvard or Yale, being the fact they have much more years and experience in the marketplace.
Nevertheless, we have a choice to make ourselves outstanding and that is by developing new
ways in our school system.
After analyzing the situation, I propose that school tuition fees must be increased. One of most
important things for a business is planning. Managers have to plan well their tactics and determine their
goals; the plan follows as below:

Because we want to be competitive enough with other institutions, we will strengthen

faculty by hiring people who can teach executive education; we will also increase
research funding.
As well, we will improve and extend the campus facilities, which will allow more
students to enroll in our school.

By following the plan above, (i) we will be able to increase our revenues and our global
reputation, (ii) improve the quality education we offer to our students; (iii) become more
competitive as we will be able to offer more graduate programs.
Financial
This proposal will probably require a budget of approximately $400,000 to cover the salaries of the 10
new faculty members that will be hired in the school, earning an average of $40,000 each; also $100,000
that will be added to the research funding, and around $800,000 of expenses used to improve and extend
the campus facility. In summary, the cost of the project will be about $ 1,300,000.

Status
We have already made a public announcement to all our students about the new fee policy,
explaining them in advance the reasons and benefits of this decision. New faculty members have
already been hired in order to start teaching at the beginning of Fall Semester. Construction
workers have started with campus remodeling, as we ensure its completion by the end of 2015.
Action
