A. Personal Statement
As a graduate student, there are numerous goals and expectations that I look to reach aside from earning a
Masters in dental hygiene at UCSF. Through the course of this program I aim to grow as an individual and
clinician. I have a tremendous amount of passion for the dental field and want to be able to share my
knowledge with peers, employers and the community. I firmly believe that through knowledge, continuous
growth and determination there are endless possibilities, it is for that reason that although I am extremely
interested in teaching I do not want to limit other avenues that this venture may take me on whether it be
research or community level dental hygiene.
The skills that I would like to acquire throughout the course of this program are to build my understanding of
research and confidence in conducting research. Within just a few weeks I feel as if my interest and knowledge
have both blossomed on the topic of research and I am anxious to see where I will be at the end of the year.
