Description: Regeneration

Reason for Inspection:


On third week of June 2011, Operation had issue with catalyst plugging on
regeneration tower D-1302. Hence it was decided to open the tower and pull out the
internal screen.
Inspection Summary:
The Joint inspection of Reliability with UOP was done of the inner screen basket of D1302 and following are the observations& recommendations.

Inspection Details (e.g. findings in details, pictures, full description, attachments,


etc):
The inner screen basket was observed to be deformed below the top Blank
off plate
The screen vertical slits are waved at the sides allowing for a larger than
the required/ design
gaps between vertical slits due to overheating. Also the inner screen was
found fouled with
catalyst fines.

Recommendations:
To plug the larger holes by a plug plate of 2mm thick, 300 mm long x 38.1mm
wide, specification
SUS304, electrode ER308
The location was marked by the UOP from the outside of the screen Refer
attached photos
Weld has to be a fillet type on the support rings, the plate inserted and pressed to
bend
to the shape of the ring / screen periphery, between the gap of the upper and
lower rings
The plug plate was welded, inspected and found acceptable by reliability and UOP.
Inner screen was cleaned with wire brush.

However, it shall be inspected during next opportunity. UOP shall follow-up for
appropriate action for inner screen.
