How to use this booklet

You will need to complete every page of this booklet, and all sections / questions
required.
Assessment criteria for Distinction grade;
LO2
Plans will show a full consideration of movement and continuity, perspective, point of view,
transitions and special effects.
Precise and workable planning of timing and synchronisation to a soundtrack will be
produced. It will be clear at this stage, from the documentation, what the finished piece will
look and sound like.
Learners will follow industry conventions and terminology used in storyboard production
correctly.
Plans for the construction of models, sets and props will be realistic and clear.
Drawings, script and storyboard will all show a creative interpretation of the idea.
LO3:
The documentation linked to the production will be full and detailed and there will be
evidence that the production management and scheduling of the project has been effective
and carried out in a professional manner. The techniques used in the production of the work
are likely to be related to an understanding of current trends in the industry.

Both LO2 and LO3

In all practical activity learners will be capable of working autonomously and effectively. They
will work on their own initiative, will not need constant support or supervision, will give the
work their full commitment, work positively and cooperatively with others, and meet
deadlines. In other words, they will have the kind of self-management skills that would be
expected of them in a professional context. Note also that this criterion should not be taken
to mean that learners do not seek advice or that they work without discussing things with
their tutor, but rather that they are not dependent upon the support of others and that when
they take advice they weigh it carefully for themselves.

TREATMENT
The background is black throughout. The Ident begins with 25
Copro/Casket CDs being piled up (One per shot) Including
Earthtone9 ArcTanGent, each cd that appears in shot cues a
Sound. One Cd comes out from pile (Earthtone9 ArcTanGent) cd
case opens to show the disc, from this the next shots zoom into the
disc and cuts to shots zooming away from the cover of an issue
from Cop-Out magazine which then has the page turning. Once the
magazine reaches the end showing the back page cuts to the
Copro Records Logo and other sub company logos (Casket, Cop
cartel etc). For artistic effect some areas such as the cd piling will
have a low FPS.

How will you meet the requirements of your brief?

By using relative images to Copro records and its sub companies such as Cop out
magazine and casket catalogued CDs. As well as the soundtrack being a famous
Copro release.
I will keep the ident to 30 seconds as mentioned in the brief and have the final edit
completed in time for its premiere on the YouTube channel

Risk assessment: Are there any health and safety issues you may encounter?
Working with electrical equipment when using this equipment I must ensure there
are no loose wires obstructing anybodys way.
Using hot lighting ensure everyone is aware that the lighting used will get hot and
are not to go near them.

Discuss any legal issues you may face. Eg; sound, plagiarism, age restrictions
As I am working with a record label I must be sure that they own the rights to use and
display and music or images of bands/clients.

Stop Motion Animation Pre-production Booklet

Use of possible formats

Circle which of the following formats your animation will take;
stop-frame techniques
time lapse photography
plasticine animation
Claymation
using found objects
modelling
puppetry
combined formats

Why are you using that particular format?

Because I can use related objects to Copro and manipulate the different platforms they offer.
By doing this I can display the brand to its customers in an interesting an effective way.

What are the different possibilities you could explore using this format?
Use of moving real life objects that portray Copro records and its sub companies. The
objects used can also be relatable to the viewers as they are objects that they can possess
as a Copro records customer such as the CDs and magazines.

What are the limitations of using this format? (i.e what problems/ obstacles might you
have?)
You cannot manipulate the appearance of real objects as opposed to creating something
with plasticine.
Objects may be difficult to move which makes it hard to give it character and personality.

What imaginative or inventive animations have you seen which use this format?
Add in links and screen shots of three examples of animations using this format.

Stop Motion Animation Pre-production Booklet

Subject
What will the subject of your animation be?
To advertise Copro records and its sub companies using their multiple platforms.

Storyline
Describe the storyline of your animation. What events will happen to your characters?
The use of Copro records Cds and magazine advertises the company and works well as a
YouTube channel introduction.

Characters
What characters will be in your animation?
I have chosen not to use characters as it would be irrelevant to the client.
If the company were to have a relatable character/mascot a character would be necessary
but as they do not it would be confusing to add a face to the ident.

Add in images and drawings/ sketches of what they will look like.

What will they be made of?

Real Objects
Cds
Magazine

Movement of characters
How are you going to make your characters move?
Use their existing functions
Cd case opening/closing
Magazine turning through pages
I will need some support to hold these objects during their movement process using things
like blue tac and plastecine

What is the purpose of an armature?

An armature offers full manipulation of a skeleton like model that are used to create
animated characters will full body movements as shown below. These structures allow
modelled character to walk with movable joints to simulate a real experience.

Stop Motion Animation Pre-production Booklet

Will you use them for your characters?

No as I do not have any characters feature in my animation. If I were to use them I would
utilize the ease of movement that the models have.

If so, how will you make it?

N/A

Mood board
Create a mood board showing what look your animation will have. Add images showing
ideas of mise-en-scene, characters, costumes and colors that will be present in the different
shots.

Stop Motion Animation Pre-production Booklet

Sets / backgrounds
Will your set be;

A three wall set

A blue/green screen

An existing location

A Combination of two or more of the above

Draw sketches of how your sets/backgrounds will look. Add in labels to your diagrams and

Audio and Soundtrack

What audio will you have for your animation?
EVIL CRAWLING EYE EARTHTONE9
Some sound effects.

Complete the sound list, detailing what sounds you will use, where you will source them,
what equipment you will need to record them and when you will use them in your animation.
You will need to design your own soundtrack. You cannot use copyrighted music, and it must
be more than simply adding a track.

What actions will need sound effects?

CDS PILING UP GUITAR SOUND, each cd will sound a note which we become a melody
as they are piled up.

Think of the scenes in your animation. Each scene should have different sounds/music to
give information about the mood / emotions of the characters.
The atmosphere created will be thrilling and exciting due to the drive of the earthone9 track
being used.
