Internship Job Title: Graduation Specialist Intern
Professional Objectives:
Objective 1: To reach out to and assist students who are close to completing their
degrees but have been removed from the grad list and are currently inactive.
Activities/ Resources:
Review inactive student files to identify students who walked but never received
their degree.
Reach out to appropriate students to discuss remaining degree requirements.
Identify and discuss appropriate university resources with students.
Evidence:
Compose a written log that documents interactions with students within their file.
Objective 2: To become familiar with the resources available to students and learn
how to direct students to the appropriate resource.
Activities/ Resources:
Research campus resources for students.
Assist walk-in students with questions and concerns.
Evidence:
Creation of reference sheet of campus resources.
Objective 3: To research, learn and understand about retention, graduation, and
barriers to degree.
Activities/ Resources:
Review academic journals and research regarding retention, graduation and
barriers to degree.
Work one on one with students with questions, issues and concerns about
graduation
I will also do some research on what other schools to do increase retention and
graduation rates and what works.
Evidence:
Create an outline of findings.
Objective 4: To obtain and demonstrate the ability to accurately advise students in
regards to graduation.
Activities/ Resources:
Assist students and resolve issues students may have when calling or coming into
the office.
Learn how to understand and explain the graduation audit that the college
provides to students.
Utilize the different catalogues for each year of matriculation to determine if a
student has the required general education and major classes in order to graduate
on time.

Under supervision, review students that are on the current graduation list and
present those who are not enrolled in the courses they need to be in order to
graduate to my supervisor.
Evidence:
Complete mock audits for students with 90-120 credits
Create a flow chart outlining the process of how to review each student.
Objective 5: To gain understanding and knowledge of the job requirements for
administrative jobs in higher education.
Activities/ Resources:
Assist various staff members in order to obtain first-hand knowledge of the
variety of tasks required to ensure efficient running of student affairs.
Learn how to properly process and handle the office forms and ensure
confidentiality is kept for students.
Evidence:
Write an in-depth paper that explains the process of the Arts and Sciences for
graduation.
Design a flow chart of the office staff and their job descriptions.
Compose a reference sheet of office forms.
Internships Details:
Duties Include:
Phone calls and emails to students in regards to graduation requirements.
Process of important student forms and be able to explain the importance and
function of each form.

Look at current students who intend to graduate in May and ensure they are
enrolled in what they need to complete their degrees.

Process incoming transcripts

Prepare files and forms for those who indicate their intention to graduate

Answer phone calls and assist students with any questions

Assist walk-in students that have questions or forms to complete

Other administrative duties as required

Evaluation Methods:

Evaluation forms filled about by supervisor updating me about my progress


A few times during the week my supervisor sits and discusses my progress, what
needs work and what I am doing well with, as well as answering any questions I
may have in regards to my work.
Expected Work Schedule:

Hours: 20 in office hours per week from January 4th-May 27th.
