I chose to hand out my questionnaire to a group of


30 people. Having a large group of people will
ensure that my research is reliable and valid. The
data shows that I had more females than males.
Three people selected the no answer box which
was inputted to make my audience feel
comfortable when answering. Moreover, the data
shows that those between the age of 18 21
where the most. This showed me that they may be
most interested in magazines.

DO YOU ENJOY ELECTRONIC MUSIC?


The data shows that the answer given by my
audience is equal. Those that said they enjoy
electronic music showed a good sign. I
believe those that said no was due to the
fact that they havent heard the house music
side of electronic music. They may have
confused it for punk electronic music. This
problem will be solved by my choice of main
image, I will ensure that my model presents
calm house music genre which will appeal
the audience.

This data shows that a majority of my


audience preferred the magazine to be
dark blue / white. These two colours
reflect various emotions, all which could
differ to individual personalities.
I believe that the choice made by the
audience is very effective due to the fact
that the combination of colours imitates
house genre.

The data shows that 49% of the audience


rarely read house music magazines, I have
also taken into account that 36% of the
audience often read house magazines. This
suggests that my audience know what they
expect to see in a house music magazine
however it has not attracted them
completely which causes them to read it
once in a blue moon.
This data tells me that I need to ensure to
appeal to 18-21 year olds. To do this I must
take into consideration all of the suggestions
that they have made within this
questionnaire. I also need to ensure that I
carry out an audience profiling so that I can
find out more about my target.

This data shows that the audience would
prefer to see a male on the front cover
rather than a female. This makes sense
considering the fact that there where more
females answering the questionnaire;
females are usually attracted to males.

From looking through the history of house


music, a majority of the front covers are
mixed. I reduced the options that could
selected by the volunteers because
although I want their suggestions, I need to
give some sort of guidance of what I want
too; which in this case is to have one
model instead of two or more. This shows
that Im not leaving the entire look of the
magazine to the audience.

The results shown in this data are very


interesting. As anticipated, a majority of
people said they would have preferred
the cost of the magazine to be 1 or
less. This was expected because
everyone enjoys getting things at a
cheap price or free. Oddly, a lot of
people said they would want the cost of
the magazine to be between 3.50 - 5
(which can be considered expensive). I
believe that they said this because they
believed that the most expensive things
come in better quality, similarly the
most expensive magazine would have
the most exclusive things in the nicest
order.

House is a unique genre which implies


that it can have a random selection of
features. The data shows me that one
person would like to see fashion features
and nobody wants to see sports features.
This alerts me that although I could
include it if I wanted, there is no point
including something that my audience
will not be interested in. 37% of my
audience said that they will prefer to see
celebrities, which signals me to do
research about the young house
celebrities that will attract them.
Furthermore, many said that they will like
to see interviews as well as event
advertisements. This tells me that to
attract them I need to have cover lines
that include interviews and event ads.

This data shows that a lot of people


would prefer the main image to be
underneath the masthead. As my
product is new, I am going to agree to
the suggestion made by the audience,
considering the fact that when the
masthead is behind the image, it
usually suggests that the title is wellknown.
The data tells me that I need to make
sure my masthead is very bold and
noticeable. Seen as it is the first thing
that the audience will be seeing I must
use colours that catch the eyes of the
audience, such as blue.

Knowing how long the audience


wants the magazine to be is very
important. This is because we would
want them to get their moneys
worth and enjoy reading the
magazine instead of getting board
quickly. The data shows me that the
audience will prefer the number of
pages to be between 16 and 25. This
tells me that I need to ensure I have
pages which interact with the
audience or interests them to the
fullest.
