REFLECTION
(To be completed after
lesson is presented and
taught. Refer to reflective
questions)

As the teacher reads each page she will

do a stop and think strategy where she
asks the students how many of the
animal they see on the given page. The
students will have time to count and
think before they give their answer. The
teacher will count aloud after the
students have given their responses.
Do reinforcement activities
Once the story is finished, the students
will do a counting worksheet where
they count the number of farm animals
in each box and write the number in the
space provided. The activity is done
together as a group with teacher guided
practice.

BEYOND
Practice new skill, language, etc.
-Dependent practice
Once students finish the counting
worksheet, they will do their graphic
organizer of circling the correct number
of animals in each box listed. The
teacher will read the number of which
animal that needs to be circled aloud,
and the students are responsible for
circling the correct number indicated.
(If students are struggling with their
counting process, the teacher can guide
them in the correct direction.)

RATIONALE

(Checks for
student
understanding)

-Independent practice
The students will then do a color by
number worksheet of a farm animal.

*Assessment
(Checks for
student
understanding)

Assessment
The teacher will walk around the
classroom to look at the students work.
Their worksheets being filled out
correctly should show the teacher that
they understand the material in the
lesson.
Once the students are finished with
their coloring worksheet (or have put it
away to be finished another day) the
teacher will have the students think
about their favorite farm animal, one
that was in the story, on the worksheet,
or that they have seen in real life. The
class will then engage in a strategy
called, Move It! where they will take
turns acting out their favorite animal
for the class to guess.
