Case studies are the preferred strategy when the researcher has little control
over events.
The case method allows the researcher to retain the holistic characteristics
of real-life events such as organizational and managerial processes. P.2
How and why research questions require an explanatory case study, in
contrast to descriptive ones.
Case study is preferred when examining contemporary events, but contrary
to historical or experiments, in the case study behaviors cannot be
manipulated.
Direct observation, and interviews are two sources of evidence for cases
study building.
The case study unique strength over other methodologies, is that case study
has the ability to deal with a wide array of sources of evidence such as
documents, artifacts, observation, and interviews.
Case study is used when the researcher wants to deliberately cover
contextual conditions.
CS is an all encompassing method a comprehensive research strategy.
Multiple case study
Cases of study can include and even be limited to quantitative evidence
p.14
Quantitative case study (Dezin and Lincoln, 1994).
Case studies can be based on a mix of quantitative and qualitative evidence.
No need to include direct, detailed observation as source of evidence p. 15

DESIGNING
Research Design
Two case design
STEPS:
1. Study question
2. Propositions
3. Units of analysis: dependent over the research question
4. Logic linking the data to the propositions
5. Criteria for interpreting the findings
