Third Grade Religious Education


Our Life With Jesus.
This course concentrates on Gods
plan from creation to Incarnation. It explores
the redemption, the birth of the Church at
Pentecost; our life in the Church; the
importance of Confession, Communion, the
Mass, and the Creed. It will show
participants that they belong to Gods people,
and that their family is an important part of
his family, the church. This course will have
learners wanting to dive deeper into their
faith. It gives a jump start into the many
elements that comprise their Catholic faith. It
will enrich their desire to know more and
learn more.
Learners enrolled in this diocesan
religious education program shall participate
in an age-appropriate, grade-level safe
environment awareness program as part of the
curriculum.

comply with United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in accordance
with the Diocese of Lafayette and the
Catechism of the Catholic Church and
provide a comprehensive presentation of
doctrine, scripture, morality, prayer, and
sacraments. Supplementary materials such as
videos, worksheets, Bibles, and music are
also used.

Target Audience

Third graders or anyone who has successfully


completed second grade Religious Education
courses and have made their First Holy
Communion. The characteristics of the target
audience is likely to have a need to know
more about the creation of themselves, the
universe, and all it surrounding creatures.
This audience has an inquisitive mind as it is
molding and developing their faith and
distinguishing right from wrong.

Participants will have been read to and


understand Sacred Scripture as God's
Word speaking to them.

Participants will know and understand


the basic teachings of the Church and
how they apply to their lives.

Know and appreciate the centrality of


the Eucharist and importance of the
Sacraments in the life of Catholics.
Participants will experience and
appreciate a variety of prayer forms in
addition to the prayer of the
sacraments. Prayer Experience and

personal relationship with God.

Engage in service to and exercise


responsible stewardship for the
various communities to which they
belong: family, school, parish, civic,
