What is this project?

The project is an energy transfer process from a steam generator to form electricity.

Why to do this project?

We are interested in knowing an alternative source of clean energy and in the

process apply knowledge that we will adquiere from Thermodynamics class.
Aditionally, we nd amazing the way steam could be used to produce energy
and how this energy could change so quickly in other types of it.

How to do the project?

For the project, we will build a metal steam generator, which will be heated to
produce water steam at some pressure that will be measured with a manometer
and controlled with valves. This steam will be transferred to a rotating wheel
with a hose to produce rotational kinetic energy, which it then will move to a
DC motor 6 to 12 volts. This will generate movement inside it to eventually
transfer electric energy to a LED (necesarilly it not has to be one LED, it willl
be many LEDs or maybe a much bigger source of light).

So what do we expect with the project?

In a more general aspect, our interest in this project is to comprise that this
type of system can be very useful on a large scale only with the generation
of steam pressure to produce electrical, mechanical energy and other types of
1

energy, as it is a source of friendly energy environment and it is widly applied

in geothermal power generation plants.
In conclusion, we want to understand how the transfer of energy between different systems is performed an how the laws of the thermodynamics are applied
to this concept of transfering energy with this scale model.

kinetic energy, at the middle we have the 9V - 12V DC motor and nally it is
conected to a led.
