Dear fellow brothers,

We, Urvi Shah and Jakub Zajac, are the Alumni Secretaries for this coming year. Due to the
lack of communication between decades of Alumni, we are planning on sending monthly emails
to all of you to keep you up to date on what is going on with our chapter. Future emails will also
include more set dates/plans for certain events we hope Alumni could take part in (such as
Homecoming, Smoker).
For now we just want to let everyone know that part of our plans are to add an Alumni tab to
the Alpha Chi Sigma website. With this tab we could post some relevant information/dates, old
pictures to see how we grew over the years, possible job openings for Alumni still in need of a
job, as well as give everyone a place to add your email to our mailing list. Something else we
were hoping to do with this tab was to add a spot where Alumni could donate to the Scholarship
fund. For this fund, which was just established last semester, a scholarship committee was
brought together and given the responsibility of making up the application. An anonymous group
is later chosen to vote on behalf of these applicants and will award the scholarship to an
individual who is in need of the funds and has furthered the three objects. We would love it if
more donations were made to help those fellow brothers in need.
Finally, this email will include a short bio of each exec board member for the Fall 2014
semester to help you get to know your officers:
Master Alchemist: Tim Menich. Tim is a 21 year old senior studying biology and secondary
education. Something interesting about Tim is that he has a dog with blue eyes that weirdly
enough look exactly like Tim's eyes! And just like plenty of college students, he cannot live
without coffee.
Vice Master Alchemist: Justin Betancourt. Justin is a 19 year old sophomore studying
materials science and engineering. One of his favorite things in the world is Sweet Baby Ray's
BBQ sauce which goes well with anything!
Vice Master Alchemist: Daniel Tan. Daniel is a 19 year old sophomore studying molecular
and cellular biology. His name can rhyme when you call him Dan and he can bend his thumb 90
degrees.
Master of Ceremonies: Smitha Ajjampur. Smitha is a 20 year old junior in chemical
engineering. One pretty cool thing about her is that she was born in Australia and also has this
weird spit thing which she's proud of.
Professional Chair: Ross Romane. Ross is a 22 year old senior in chemical engineering. He
interestingly enough only eats ice cream with a fork.
Treasurer: Samantha Buhr. Sam is a 22 year old senior studying chemical engineering. She
loves to cook even though she believes she's not very good at it. What she also loves is spending
time with her family.

Social Chair: Kelsey Shinners. Kelsey is a 21 year old senior studying chemical
engineering. One interesting thing she's done in her life is that she's swam in the Nile River
before.
Social Chair: Keerthan Vantakala. Keerthan is a 21 year old senior studying chemical
engineering. He is someone to loves to travel and hopes that he can visit all 50 states by the time
he is 30.
Alumni Secretary: Urvi Shah. Urvi is a 22 year old Alumni who graduated from U of I with
a food science and human nutrition degree and a minor in animal sciences. One thing about her
that many people never notice is that she has a lazy eye!
Alumni Secretary: Jakub Zajac. Jakub is a 22 year old Alumni who graduated from U of I
with a chemical engineering degree and a minor in business. He became a black belt in Tae
Kwon Do during high school and was born in Poland.
Reporter: Tom Smith. Tom is a 21 year old senior in chemical engineering. He once bowled
a 200 even though he played the entire game by bowling between his legs.
Recorder: Joe Marshall. Joe is a 19 year old junior in food science and human nutrition.
Some of his unique skills include both riding on a unicycle and juggling. Sadly, he cannot do
both of these at the same time.
Engineering Council Representative: Natalia Recko. Natalia is a 20 year old junior in
chemical engineering. She can eat Nutella with pretty much anything, including things like
grilled cheese and pizza.
Krug Chair: Sarah Crowley. Sarah is a 19 year old sophomore in chemistry. She has played
piano for about 10 years!
Krug Chair: Emilee Nawa. Emilee is a 19 year old sophomore in molecular and cellular
biology. One of her favorite things in life is cheese which she loves. Another cool thing about
her is that she has a twin, but she doesn't think that's too intereting.
