source. Also, majority of the police encounters described in this journal are those of
younger males. They explain what they went through and how they handled the situation.
This is a reliable source because it gives insight from direct people who have experienced
it personally.

This source comes from a magazine published in 2009. It talks about an incident
involving the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in California. The author of this
article, Paul Kaplan, is giving you a deeper look behind police brutality. A specific police
brutality incident involving a scandal. The LAPD has tried to cover up and morph parts
of a police brutality incident. Kaplan makes this source reliable by including direct
conversations from the event. He gives you incite about the laws and what went wrong on
the police departments end of the case. He brings up the issue about racism and the
views different minorities have on police and racism. This article was written to bring a
different perspective, a critical perspective, on the scandal and to bring out the truth
behind the scandal and the brutality.

This article specifically mentions four boys that have encountered brutality by police. She
refers to the brutality as a target for not only African American citizens, but also sexual
minorities and even the homeless. She specifically refers to police brutality in New York
as a multi-dimensional phenomenon. This book offers different views from different

aspects of society, such as womens views and law views. The author makes this a
reliable source by explaining many of the statistics that accompany the problems with
police brutality. She also mentions laws and codes, such as Section 16-128 and Section
16-113 (7) (b) of the New York City Administrative code. This book is relevant to my
topic because it gives an outlook, from one of the biggest cities, on police brutality and
the Quality of Life.

This is a recent newspaper article about an incident of police brutality that happened just
last month in South Miami, Florida. It is about Corey Jones, an African-American
musician, who was armed but shot and killed by police at the age of 31. The officer that
shot him, Chief Stephen J. Stepp, had only been on the job for six months. This article
tells the details of the incident and the reactions of close family and friends. Also, it gives
Jones background information and summary of his successes. This is very relevant to my
topic because it is one of the most recent situations of police brutality.
