Climate Change
Currently, from a humanitarian perspective, we are facing our biggest crisis to date. This
is global warming. Our environment is continually weakening while we do nothing. It is not only
causing disasters now, but it will continue to intensify unless serious action is taken. Weve
already witnessed countless costly effects in our very own communities. Weve seen personal
health get worse, and disasters get bigger. Prevalent domestic issues such as wildfires, droughts,
floodings are beginning to become a frequent occurrence as a result of such change.
These disasters directly influence every aspect of society. We are finding constant decline
in diversity of various animal species globally due to unhealthy habitats caused by the rapid rise
in temperature. Two of my favorite animals are becoming extinct, the polar bear and the
penguins. To ensure the wildlifes survival we must end climate change so we dont have to put
our natural resources in risk. One effect of global warming will be to accelerate the
decomposition is soil organic matter (Jenkinson). The destruction of fertile soil will result in a
collapse in the ecosystem. We are also noticing significant health implications, severance to food
supplies, and changes to plant and animal ecosystems.
Ive seen the effects of global warming with my own eyes, and its quite dramatic. Ive
been fortunate to have traveled to many places around the world and through that I have seen
how climate change affects the world at large. I travel to Egypt often and would notice how
densely populated the country is. Population growth is a great contributor to global warming

which certainly exists in Egypt. I would also observe people in Egypt burning fields of trash
resulting to an influx of pollution. I sensed the toxic chemicals from the burning trash enter my
body to my lungs. I felt like I was suffocating from the highly contaminated air. I just knew this
was harming the environment. "The only way to explain the pattern is to include the effect of
greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted by humans" (National Geographic). The disposal of waste can
produce emissions as I soon found out. Ever since this experience, I knew it was unethical to
treat the earth in such a way. I remember the moment being quite eye opening.
My grandmother was another central figure who kept me informed about environmental
issues. I recall this one time when she sat me down and told me some of the potential
consequences of climate change. The talk left me in disbelief. I came out of that extensive sit
down with an earful of facts and figures. This conversation really shaped my interest as well as
my perspective in this topic. So I began to dig deeper and do my own research on the topic. With
that being said, Im also passionate as it is concerns the well-being of our future.
Global Warming is a consequential issue that everyone should be informed about in this
day and age. Climate scientists looking at the data and facts agree the planet is warming" (Live
Science). The severity of the problem is evident and has shown that it has the potential to harm
us all. We must take cautious steps to ensure the safety of our people and our surroundings. This
problem affects the earth in its entirety, along with everything that it hosts. If things continue to
progress worse and worse like it has been for the past couple decades, then we will see more of
the same conflicting damage. There would be an increase in extreme weather such as droughts,
wildfires, floodings, but if we take the initiative, we hope to see beneficial changes to our
society that we didnt even know existed. This is a very important issue that should not be taken
lightly.

After extensive research, I found the biggest contributor of credible information
regarding global warming to be Al Gore. He is responsible for starting this long, overdue
conversation of climate change. I occasionally sit down and listen to his speeches to gather new
opinions on climate change. Listening to him makes me realize the importance of keeping the
environment clean and safe. The former vice-president and environmentalist has a very clear cut
stance on the environment. The passion he exerts in his field of study is inspiring. He appears at
major environmental summits to advocate combating climate change.
Alongside Al Gore, another influential figure and big contributor of mine is Elon Musk. I
have learned countless lessons from this successful entrepreneur and engineer. Elon Musk is a
prominent to me and my inquiry as he expressed the significance of living environmentally
friendly. Ultimately, [global warming] it is driven by the rapidly growing human population and
our high rates of resource consumption... (Vitousek). His progressive and visionary ideas have
revolutionized the way we use our energy to combat high rates of resource consumption. Elon
Musk is responsible for creating a commercial electric car that will soon dominate the market.
Hes been awarded several exceptional recognitions due to his superb scientific and philanthropic
achievements. His attitudes toward the environment mirrors the attitude of my own. Elon Musk
came up with a reasonable strategy to fight emissions by proposing a carbon tax, Only carbon
tax will accelerate the transition from carbon-producing fossil fuels to sustainable energy
(Korosec). We both stress the notion of implementing a carbon tax on countries to urge them to
switch from fossil fuels to sustainable energy. This would help eliminate the constant rise of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Elon Musk has made significant scientific breakthroughs in
the environment saving this earth as we know it.

In the end, the most convincing voices were the various global organizations determined
to combat global warming and make this earth healthy. I believe they provided the most relevant
and persuasive answer to my inquiry. They also possess the most passion and interest in the
environmental field. If I might add myself, I would like to intensify environmental regulations
and place strict sanctions on anyone who tries to harm the environment. I would like to only see
electric cars operating by 2030. We the people must do everything in our power to change our
current system. I would like to see more cities today try to emulate Singapores philosophy
concerning the environment. They do not waste nor do they liter, which is the main reason why
its the cleanest city in the world. I want this to be a major issue that all politicians and countries
take seriously.
When starting this project, I wasnt that knowledgeable in this field, but with research, I
slowly began exploring and learning the environment and its ecosystems. I can now truly
appreciate all the understandings pertaining to environmental world. From now on I will make
conscious, environmental decisions in everything I do because I sincerely value the health of this
earth. I will live a green life by recycling material and conserving energy. Through the
discoveries I made, I found out that it is not rocket science to battle global warming. I hope the
readers understand the severity of this issue at hand and hope they can do the maximum to raise
awareness and prevent further problems. This isnt correlated to my research per say but I remain
curious about life on Mars. Ive always wondered if there is in fact water on Mars, and if there
was would it be sustainable for living? Ive done countless hypotheticals revolving around what
if statements about potentially living on mars. To my knowledge, if there is water on Mars then
the planet could possibly be open to human habitat. One main obstacle to overcome is the
extremely cold weather conditions. But, one step at a time
