The activity that I did in my classroom was the Path Memory

game, where the purpose of this game was a team building activity
that is intended to enhance communication and teamwork within my
classroom of 6th graders. This game is where there is a team of
students that have to go across a plane of tiles that the teacher sets up
and there is a specific map that the teacher has created where the
students need to figure out the secret map. By messing up it helps the
next student that steps up by the team communicating to the student
in guiding them to make the right decision. I set it up by splitting my
class in half and making it a competition with one group against the
other for the students to show some initiative. What went well is that
all students participated, I encouraged that there will be a line and
when the student messes up, the next one in line steps up. What I
would change next time is probably to keep the noise level down, the
students get kind of loud where they get excited a bit too much.
Feedback that my mentor teacher gave me was that it was a good
activity that all students participated, which was my goal, for 100%
student participation. The students did behave, the class volume got a
little loud, but I understood it as the kids being excited about the
activity. I did a great job of setting expectations of what my mentor
teacher and I were expecting when it came to beginning this activity.
Not one student behaved out of line. I facilitated the activity with help
from my mentor teacher but we rotated in being with both different

groups every time a team of students won a round within the activity.
The students responded quickly and were fully participated once I had
modeled the activity with my students. I would call on my students
whenever it was there turn to be up next and figure out the path. The
positive praise that happened came from my mentor teacher and
myself when they listened to their team and to the team members for
communicating with each other. The team of students praised each
other when they figured out the secret path and beat the other team to
figuring out the path.
