8/30/14 Initial research analysis

PSC/ISTE Standards
PSC 1.1/ISTE 1a; PSC
5.1/ISTE 4a

Reflection:
At this point in my Capstone study, I gathered and organized my research in accordance to the
aspects of my research question. Since I found little research on the effect of different types of
digital assessments on a students success and whether or not that differed from a students
results if they were to have taken a traditional, pen and paper assessment. Thus, I had to
gather research on assessments in general, students interactions with technology and how that
affected their learning, as well as the impact games in the classroom had on student learning.
9/15/14 Constructed Literature Review Map

PSC 1.2/ISTE 1b

Reflection:
This Literature Review Map provided a visual representation of how I planned to organize the
research I had gathered.
9/22/14 Constructed Literature Review Initial Draft

PSC 4.3/ISTE 5c

Reflection:
This was the initial draft of my Literature Review.
12/1/14 Research Methodology Completed

PSC 2.6/ISTE 2f; PSC

3.6/ISTE 3f

Reflection:
At this point, I constructed my research methodology so that it would yield the most objective
results I could see possible at that time.
12/7/14 Completed Research Proposal Initial Draft

PSC 2.1/ISTE 2a

Reflection:
This initial draft of my research proposal, included the Literature Review and the Research
Methodology.

4/14-20 Initial research and data analysis practice

/15
Reflection:

PSC 2.1/ISTE 2a

4/22/15 Compiled, aggregated, organized, and analyzed

research data in order for it to be reiterated in the
Research Proposal
Reflection:

PSC 2.1/ISTE 2a

4/25/15 Created the assessment used in my research study

PSC 2.3/ISTE 2c; PSC

2.4/ISTE 2d; PSC 2.5/ISTE
2e; PSC 2.7/ISTE 2g

Reflection:
With this assessment, I aimed to create something that was brief so that it was not taxing upon
my students. I also worked to ensure that it provided a variety of question types so that the
question type had as little impact as possible on the overall results.
4/26/15 Implemented the assessment used in my research study

PSC 3.1/ISTE 3a; PSC

3.2/ISTE 3b; PSC 3.3/ISTE

3c; PSC 3.5ISTE 3e; PSC
4.1/ISTE 5a; PSC 4.2/ISTE
5b
Reflection:
On this day, I actually conducted the assessment at the heart of my study. This was done over
the course of my four classes, with equal groups participating in the digital assessment versus
the traditional pen and paper assessment.
4/28/15 Completed final data analysis

PSC 1.3/ISTE 1c; PSC

1.4/ISTE 1d; PSC 2.2/ISTE
2b; PSC 2.8/ISTE 2h

Reflection:
This final data analysis, which included many of the techniques learned between 4/14 and
4/20/15, organized the data I acquired to illustrate the results of my study.
11/19/15 Capstone Video Reflection

PSC 3.7/ISTE 3g; PSC

5.2/ISTE 4b; PSC 5.3/ISTE
4c; PSC 6.2/ISTE 6c

Reflection:
This video was created in order to provide a reflection and retrospective on the process of
developing, designing, conducting, and analyzing the study I conducted.
