Many people are unaware that essential oils have been around for thousands
of years. In fact, they are known to be some of the oldest and most powerful
substances on earth!
Ancient civilizations from Rome to
China used them in perfumes and
ancient medicines. They were even
commonly used for spiritual and
ritualistic purposes. Hieroglyphics
containing oil blend recipes have been
found on the walls of Egyptian temples
and some well-preserved oils were even
found in alabaster jars in King Tuts tomb.
Over time, most of the ancient
traditional uses of essential oils were
forgotten. It was not until the early 20th
century that people began to rediscover
them. Today, modern scientists are only
beginning to uncover the countless
benefits that essential oils have to offer.
Essential oils are concentrated, aromatic
liquids extracted through distillation
from the flowers, leaves, and roots of
herbs, shrubs and trees. Every unique

Modern research is now beginning to
understand how essential oils actually
