Book Ten Timid Ghosts

Workbooks

Lesson
20 minutes
Introduction/ Development:
I will start my lesson by using a signal to get students attention. I will
then have students sit in their assigned seated on the floor. I will read
the title and ask, What do you think this book is about? After
students respond, I will read the story Ten Timid Ghosts. At the end of
the story I will have students share their favorite part of the story. I will
ask students, Who wants to share their favorite part of the
story? I will ask someone who is sitting quietly, with their hand
up.
30 minutes
Activity:
I will then have students go back to their seats. Students will be given
a workbook in which they are asked to draw what they would use to
scare a ghost. After explaining the activity, I will discuss some ideas
with the students. I will ask, Does somebody want to share some
ideas? If students mention weapons I will guide them towards using
traps or scary masks. As students begin their work I will walk around to
make sure everyone is on the right track. After they have drawn how
they would scare a ghost, they will write about what they drew. I will
say, Use sounds to help you spell the words. I will encourage
them to try their best to write using sounds and without help from me.
10 minutes
Closure:

Once the students are done with their journal, I will ask, Who would
like to share their picture? If I see everyone wants to share I will
go around row by row and have students quickly show and explain
their image. When we are done I will pick up the journals.
