Week One: Football


Overhand Throwing
Place milk carton on table and place cones 12 feet away, students must use proper technique and
throw tennis ball hard enough to knock milk carton off table (talk to them about technique and
how they should correct it).

Hand Off Tag
Students must properly carry football - Taggers try to tag students without football, in order to
get unfrozen football must be handed off to someone who has been tagged.

Football Downs
Divide students into groups of three, starting at one cone one student will run to the opposite
cone while the quarterback throws the ball towards the receiver - Bean bags will mark where the
ball is caught and they should make it to the end zone in 4 downs.

Punting Drills
Students will learn proper punting skills - then divide up and practice using proper technique.

Ultimate Football
Split children up into two teams, designated two separate end zones, children should work on
passing the football off to one another, once they have the football they are not allowed to move,
No contact should be made by the defender, they should remain 3 feet away from the offensive
person at all times

Week Two: Volleyball


Scrambled Eggs
Students will make a KWL chart on all they know about volleyball. Correct passing form will be
demonstrated with balloon and then practiced, repeat with underhand serves.

Pepper
Students will practice bumping and setting ball to each other
One volleyball per pair

Volleyball Rotation
Students will practice underhand serving and forearm passing a volleyball by having to aim at
certain spots on floor.

Volleyball 4 Square
Object of game is similar to four squares, ball should never bounce twice on the court, children
should use flat palm to serve ball and hit back over net

Queen of the Court
Students will split up into teams of 4, from there they will play out a volleyball set, with the
winner staying on while the losers rotate out.

Week Three: Soccer


Soccer Lead Up Activity
Teaches kicking and controlling of soccer ball: One student stands in middle while other children
kick soccer ball trying to keep it away from child in middle, switch every 45 seconds

Foot Skills: Passing
Break students up into two lines, Students will work on correct passing technique back and forth
to their partner, when music stops must rotate to new partner.

Soccer Relays
Split into 5 groups, First person dribbles ball to end of gym, changes directions and dribbles ball
back, Winning team gets all students back to start.

Soccer Touch Ball
Split students up into five groups and make a circle with each group, whoever gets passed the
ball gets to pick an exercise i.e. 5 jumping jacks, and continue until everyone has a chance to
lead the group.

Silly Soccer
Split into two teams, 9 players from each team play at one time, switching every 5 minutes,
Students may pass to teammates and steal during a pass, but may not steal from an opponent.

Week Four: Basketball


Basketball Review
Review proper techniques for: shooting, dribbling, passing
One basketball per student

Cha-Cha Dribble
While listening to the song students must perform the movement dribbling the basketball i.e.
right foot two stomps = two right dribbles

Dribble Knock Out


Review proper dribbling techniques. Gather students in a designated area, they must keep their
dribble while trying to knock away others ball, in order to stay in must maintain their dribble

Aerobic Basketball Relays
Divide class into teams, 5 players on each team will dribble to cone at the end of the court and
dribble back, each student then must make a lay-up before the next 5 on their team can go.

Modified Basketball
3 on 3 - Teams divided evenly with boys and girls, each group plays for 5 minutes before subbed
out, be sure and focus on proper techniques

Week Five: Track/Agility


Knights of the Round Relay
Teams are divided up, and decide in what order they will be running, once the whistle blows they
must run to the other end of the gym and retrieve their jewel beanbag and bring it back, first
team back with all their jewels win.

Jump Rope Tag
Gym will be divided into two areas - Taggers in one area will be performing locomotor
movement and tagging other students, once tagged students must go to other side of gym and
perform 10 jumps of a certain skill

Students will trace star shape while performing locomotor movement (galloping, running,
shuffle).

Students will practice various field events - Softball throw, Long Jump, Frisbee Throw

Week Six: Game Week


Big Bear Tag
Two students will be bears and freeze students, while two students will be doctors and
unfreeze students, Students must perform locomotors movement required after whistle is heard.

Snowball Modified Dodge ball
Once hit children go to knees, if they catch ball they are able to stand back up, if hit again they
must leave the game.

Tail Ball
Split class into two teams, team members use tail of ball to throw to each other and cross into
the end zone at the end of the court or field, no running while in possession of the ball

Fitness Pursuit
Children will be split into teams, teams will roll dice in order to see how many of each activity
they will do, they must then draw a card to tell them what activity and the benefits of it, as a
team they will complete the activity on the card

Quidditch
Children will be divided on teams - Each team will try and score the gator balls into the hula
hoops of the opposing team - If tagged by the soccer ball players must remove from game and
perform jumping jacks or pushups for a period of time -Once the designated player on the team
gets the bouncy ball the game ends.
