Top Ten Reasons Euthanasia should be Illegal Review

This article Top Ten Reasons Euthanasia Should Be Illegal written by an

unknown author from the website listland.com, is written as the title describes. From
reading the article, this person has revealed themselves as very religious and very much
against assisted suicide provided by their top ten. Even though this person has written a
lot for their argument, it can still be disagreeable. Everyone has his or her own opinions
about any topic in the world, but that does not mean their top ten are always facts.
Before mentioning his or her top ten, the author has provided details about what
euthanasia is, and how people, weather for or against, feel about it. From observing this
authors statements, its as if he or she put their opinion in the facts they are providing.
Euthanasia advocates require that euthanasia should be legalized as it helps hopeless
patients end their suffering. They believe that people have the right to do whatever they
want with their body, even if it means ending their lives to stop pain. He or she is
implying that people, who support assisted suicide, call the patients who are in pain
hopeless and that with euthanasia around, anybody with any kind of pain will just kill
themselves. For them, while it seems that euthanasia has good intentions, people still
dont have the right to kill themselves. It is not only against the law, but also sinful in the
eyes of our Creator. The author made themselves and others who are also against

euthanasia look good, to the point that they are saviors for disapproving because people
dont have the right to kill themselves and that assisted suicide will disappoint their
creator.
The first and seventh facts or opinions are that euthanasia is murder and it
should be illegal everywhere in the world. He or she brings up the OBVIOUS fact that
murder is the taking of another life. The author writes down the facts that opponents of
euthanasia, especially Catholics, believe that it is wrong its murder and that God created
us, so he has the right to take away our lives. In fact, the sixth of the Ten
Commandments states Thou shall not kill. Therefore, any form of killing regardless
of motives is not permissible. Besides euthanasia being illegal, it also a sin to the
authors creator for the use of assisted suicide. Then he or she brings another example
about the death of Brittney Maynard, who had a brain tumor and died from the use of
euthanasia. Before reading this article, Ive actually read about her, and because of her
story, she made euthanasia legal here in California. The author though, wrote about how a
Vatican criticized about her death, saying how she didnt die with dignity but an error.
The author believes that legalizing euthanasia would increase more deaths in any part of
the community.
The second and third facts or opinions are that euthanasia gives doctors more
power and that it destroys their patients trust. Just by reading these two paragraphs, it
seems as if the author has a big thing against doctors. It seems really obvious that his or
her facts are actually their own opinions because they didnt have very much proof
about doctors being murderers and like to play God. The author only used one example
about a doctor who subscribe illegal euthanasia to his patients, but that does not mean

ALL doctors are like that. Doctors, like any other humans, are lazy, selfish, and weak to
temptations. Well doctors are like any other humans. As Dr. Peter Saunders, a general
surgeon and CEO of Christian Medical Fellowship, has written: Voluntary euthanasia
makes the doctor the most dangerous (person) in the state. Even though this is proof
from a doctor that euthanasia can give doctors more power, it doesnt look right that their
opinion comes from a christen who goes against it. The weirdest and funniest thing this
author writes though is that, as bad as he or she judges doctors, they would still want to
go to one as long as that doctor keeps them alive. That would be kind of hard to find if
they dont trust doctors at all. Period.
The fifth and eighth facts or opinions is that apparently, euthanasia emotionally
makes a person not want to live any more, no matter what condition they are in.
Legalizing euthanasia and convincing people that they should kill themselves to end
their suffering is like saying that their lives are no longer worthy to be saved that it is
better for them to be dead than to live. Nobody is saying that! This statement is
obviously the authors own opinion. People who want to legalize euthanasia dont
comfort a person and say, Your going to suffer in pain so just die. They want to legalize
euthanasia because they understand that if a person is in critical pain or cant even fight
their own battles (like if they are a vegetable or in a coma), they would want to give them
their own choice the right to die. Life is beautiful. If we can only convince those
hopeless patients that there are so many reasons to live for, they will no longer consider
euthanasia. These arent hopeless patients, and yes there are many reasons to live, but
there is no such life for a human if they are trapped in a hospital bed.

The sixth fact or opinion is that legalizing euthanasia changes peoples
conscience. The author writes that everyone trusts the law because they believe it is for
the people and that the law is always right. The law is a powerful tool that can be used to
change our beliefs, behavior, and conscience. He or she uses the example of twin
brothers, Marc and Eddy Verbessem, who were born deaf and were going to turn
temporality blind. They wanted the use of assisted suicide to not let that happen. The
author uses this example because he or she wanted to state that once euthanasia is legal,
people turn to it as sign to end their own life. That shouldnt matter though. People make
their own decisions, just because something is legal doesnt mean everybody follows it.
Once a person turn twenty-one doesnt mean they are going to drink a bunch off alcohol
right away.
The ninth fact or opinion is that people who request assisted suicide dont really
want to die. Apparently, with a tragic disease or illness, people will just rather commit
suicide then to deal with their pain. Just by reading this, it seems these people want to
grab attention from others because of their diseases so once they receive more love
attention from others, they will not request the death of assisted suicide. That is not true.
Family and loved ones are always there for people no matter what. People who want the
use assisted suicide dont want attention, they want support. People who say they are
going to commit suicide without actually doing it or going through it, want and need the
love attention from others. That is not the fault of euthanasia. Just look at Ludwig van
Beethoven, Sudha Chandran, Tanny Grey-Thompson, and the famous Albert Einstein, as
well as Sheryl Crow, Anne Romney, and Hugh Jackman all these people suffered from
life-threatening diseases and disabilities, but they still have contributed to the society and

Alba 5
never thought about killing themselves. Looking at people who are famous isnt very
much supportive against assisted suicide.
The forth and tenth facts or opinions are about how there are other alternatives
then assisted suicide. The author brings out that there are medical doctors still doing
medical research for many diseases out their and that his or her argument is there will
always be a cure. In many peoples, thats true, but if the cure isnt right there, right now,
in the present with someone dying or is in really bad shape, theyre not going to want to
wait for a cure, epically if it appears in the last minute. As what Dr. Richard
Lamberton said, Once a patient feels welcome, and not a burden to others; once his
pain is controlled and other symptoms have been at least reduced to manageable
proportions, then the cry for euthanasia disappears. It is not that the question of
euthanasia is right or wrong, desirable or 76 repugnant, practical or unworkable. It is just
that it is irrelevant. Again, it is weird how this author is against doctors, but uses proof
from a doctor about how they welcome their patients with care, when he or she argued
that doctors are greedy and powerful.
Therefore, there might not be a cure for such diseases, and yes, there is a way to
reduce the pain a little bit, but that does not mean the patient is going to forget about what
they have. A patient with such an incurable disease has already hit depression and the
only thing that hits their mind is death. A person with such a disease will only want to
live long enough to say goodbye, but they would not want to live long enough to wait for
death to knock on their door as they lay in bed with wanting their pain to stop, either
psychically or emotionally. What this author wrote about was his or her own opinion and

they should judge or bring their own sayings onto others. He or she should leave their
own creator in the confines of their own church, along with his or her opinions.
