Preamble: WHEREAS some students will have conflict issues, the MCIS has come up with a committee to resolve these
issues; WHEREAS students may not feel appreciated, the Fun Squad has been introduced in order to commend great
achievements made in the MCIS; WHEREAS there may be communication issues, the Student Leadership Team will
keep the MCIS running cohesively; WHEREAS the teachers of the MCIS work to build the technology skill of the
students; WHEREAS the teachers work to build the students social skills through project based learning; WHEREAS the
teachers work to build the students public speaking skills in high pressure situations; WHEREAS the teachers put the
students in situations where they are forced to build team skills; WHEREAS teachers will build an environment where
students will thrive through independence by smoothly running a business meeting; WHEREAS teachers will help
students build interview skills; WHEREAS teachers will help students build responsible behavior through team work and
consistent attendance; We do institute and establish this social contract for the benefit and success of all MCIS students.
Section 1:
Conflict Resolution Agency
Lawmaking
: The Conflict Resolution Agency will be a peer mediation based agency made up of four members.
A mediation or meeting will be suggested for two or more students if a conflict is brought up or seen by another student.
A mediation will never consist of more than 3 people at a time: two students of conflict, and the mediator. If a problem
consists of more than 2 people, the disputants will take turns in the conflict resolving room. Anyone is allowed to suggest
a mediation. To suggest a mediation, the person suggesting will go to the Student Leadership Team (or teachers),
whoever it may be, and suggest the mediation. The Student Leadership Team will handle the scheduling process.
However, a student can decline the suggested mediation if he/she feels the need to do so, unless the mediation is
suggested by a teacher. All things said during the mediation will be kept confidential between the peers. The mediation
will allow one person to talk at a time and each person will take turns sharing their information or side of the story.
Representation
: Mediators will notify students when a conflict resolution meeting is necessary. Students can
be asked to participate in a meeting for reasons such as argumentative behavior or not being able to work well with
others. The amount of time students are needed for meetings varies on the situation they are in and how long it will take
them to fix the problem. There will be a peer or an adult in the room to help the problem solving go by smoothly. If you
are selected to serve as a Mediator, it can look really great on college applications. Only a select number of students can
be picked, so if you are level headed and a good at working with others you should be fine for the job. Conflict Resolution
Mediators serve for a one Semester but can reapply to serve the whole school year. Four at most mediators will serve at
all times in the committee. Applications will be taken for those seniors interested in taking on that responsibility. The
Student Leadership Team will get applicants and the teachers will make the final selections.
Oversight:
Conflict mediation meetings will be held in a private room, such as the conference room, and will go
until the conflict is resolved or until a teacher orders the mediation to stop. If a student rejects the suggested mediation
offer, it is their decision and will therefore be respected. However, the teachers may still call a meeting with the students
involved if they feel it is warranted. Failure to abide by the rules during mediation will result in a canceling of the
mediation. Failure to keep the mediation information confidential will result in the involvement of teachers/adults and
punishments will be decided accordingly. If the conflict cant be resolved or the problem is too serious to be fixed, the
mediators and the teachers will have a discussion about splitting up the group.
Services
: Private rooms would be a great environment for students of the MCIS to solve their problems.
Conference rooms will be reserved for this purpose, because they are a lot more private than the other rooms in the MCIS
and would limit distractions. The room would have to fit a nice and calm standard in order for the mediation to work as
planned. Working with teenagers to solve problems can be a struggle, but if their grades depended on it then it would
make the process of counseling them a lot easier. Teamwork is a large part of MCIS work, so if students are disagreeing
too much, then their grades will be impacted.

Section 2:
Fun Squad
Lawmaking:
Although fun and laws may not be the most likely pair, laws are a very important part of the Fun
Squads process. The Fun Squad will be responsible for determining when it is appropriate for celebrations
to occur, as

well as the planning of said celebrations. It is also imperative that Fun Squad members do not allow these celebrations to
interfere with school events. Fun Squad sponsored celebrations may only take place after someone or a group of people
have made a remarkable accomplishment in the MCIS. After this accomplishment is made, the Fun Squad is responsible
for creating some kind of press release to commend this achievement. After, they may plan a celebration that also gives
back to the community. One example of this may be a charity dance where each guest must bring a nonperishable
item to

help a local food bank. Any profits the Fun Squad makes will either go into maintaining the MCIS, funding celebrations,
or to a local charity.
Representation

: There should be five members of the Fun Squad. Everybody in the MCIS can have a chance to vote
to see who gets elected for being on the Fun Squad. New elections will be held every semester change. If a member quits
or is kicked out, a new election can be held for the amount of people left. People may be elected twice. Everyone has a say
in what activities are planned. All MCIS students will be polled about what they want to do, but the Fun Squad members
along with the teachers will make the final decision. They can put together fundraisers if money is needed for an event or
activity. The people who are elected will have the opportunity to participate in fun team building events and extra credit
opportunities for their service. These things are provided to show appreciation for their service.
Oversight:
While having meetings, the group can meet somewhere in the MCIS. When having the event or
activity, everyone should keep things clean, but the members of Fun Squad are in charge of organizing the event and
making sure it is neat and clean at the end. If one of the Fun Squad members does not help they may be kicked out and
someone can be elected to replace them.
Services:
The Fun Squad will do all the planning for events. In doing so they will be providing a great
service to

the MCIS. They will also assemble a press release to inform the Milan community of
all the great things that MCIS

students are accomplishing. The Fun Squad will also be responsible for reserving spaces and assets for any events to
occur. They are to obtain these assets
through fundraisers. The Fun Squad sets up the fundraisers so it is easy for all

students interested in
participating in the recreational activities the Fun Squad organizes.

Section 3:
MCIS Student Leadership Team
Lawmaking:
The Student Leadership Team (SLT) sets up rules and regulations for the other agencies. They
also set the standards for how the other agencies do their work. The other agencies must follow the rules the SLT sets and
come to them if they want to make a change in their agency. SLT Representatives (Reps) are responsible for problems in
the MCIS that are outside of the other agencies purview.
Representation:
There will be 12 SLT Reps in total, 5 in the AM, one for each agency in the AM, another 5 in
the PM to do the same. There will also be one president in the AM and one president in the PM. To be elected to be a SLT
Rep students must show acts of responsibility and maturity throughout their high school career. Students with these
qualities can be nominated for the SLT by any MCIS student. Once nominations are complete (persons being nominated
must accept) an election will occur. The top six vote winners will serve on the SLT with the top vote winner serving as
president. The election process is run entirely by the MCIS class. There are six SLT Reps for the MCIS; five preside over
one other agency while the president watches over the other five. Each person elected serves for a semester but can then
run to be elected again for another semester.
Oversight:
Each of the five SLT reps, not including the president, is in charge of one other agency and each
should strive to keep harmony within the agencies. The SLT will assemble every week and discuss events in the MCIS
and explain concerns. During these meetings the SLT will discuss whether or not the other agencies are cooperating and
running smoothly. A quorum of SLT Representatives (four or more) for the morning or afternoon MCIS must be together
before any decisions are made, so all the SLT reps have an equal amount of power. However, the president sets the
meeting agenda.
Services:
Services the SLT handles involve addressing the senior class and agencies from the balcony while
they listen in the downstairs portion of the interaction zone. They serve the agencies by helping them out when need be
or when asked for help. SLT reps also help any students with problems that the other agencies do not cover. The SLT
Reps reserve the conference room to discuss anything that is going on during that day. The SLT Reps are also in charge
of minor disciplinary actions in the MCIS such as failing to clean up, put away technology, and eating in the labs.
Section 4:
Technology Issues Agency aka Tech Team
Lawmaking
: One major role of the Technology Issues Agency (TIA) is that they ensure that everyone is
following the contract rules such as keeping searches safe. Some of the other parts of the contract are keeping the
ChromeBooks clean and in one piece. If a ChromeBook is broken, the TIA will attempt to fix it and/or file a report with
the teachers. The TIA will also be responsible for reserving spaces within the MCIS.
Representation
: Students in the TIA set the example for all the other students. They must be very
knowledgeable in everything about the ChromeBooks in terms of how to fix them and how to maintain them. They must

know where everything is stored (on the ChromeBooks and in the Tech Room) to keep everything as efficient as possible.
Students will apply to serve in the TIA of the MCIS and the SLT (or teachers) will accept or deny the applications. The
students will serve for four weeks. They can, however, be terminated by the SLT Rep leader or a teacher. The SLT Rep
leader can only terminate someone if they have an actual reason. There can be at most 6 students involved in the TIA.
The incentive for serving on the TIA is priority seat reservations, experience and extra credit. Students must be able to
troubleshoot the ChromeBooks to find out what could be a problem if the ChromeBooks are unresponsive.
Oversight
: Members of the Agency shall keep a record of what computers and ChromeBooks are broken, check
out computers and hardware accessories from the tech window, and maintain the tech window space. They will also
assist teachers and teams with HDMI setup and display trouble shooting. If the TIA is not doing its job many problems
will never get fix and the problems will keep occurring and reoccurring.
Services
: Students can reserve spaces with members of the TIA by going to the MCIS Tech Window.
Additionally, if they have a problem displaying their work with a projector they can go to the window to get help from a
Tech Agency team member. With us saving time it will help us keep the space down here clean and ready for any future
issues.
Section V: Maintenance Agency aka Sweep Team
Lawmaking

: The Maintenance Agency will set the standards for the living space in the MCIS. The living area is to
always have no trash on the floor; have tables cleared of all personal belongings and trash after each individual or team
leaves a space; and once everyone leaves for the day, all furniture should be back in its expected place. The living space in
the MCIS consists of couches, chairs, and tables. All students should respect each item for its intended purpose (feet
dont go on tables, dont purposefully mark up or damage items, etc.). Students shouldnt put their feet on the tables or
chairs. No leaving trash or your personal belongings behind. If you spill something, its your own responsibility to clean it
up. All misplaced items should be brought to the main office to be put into the Lost and Found. If you move any furniture
around, its your responsibility to put it back by the end of the time period. If youre seen purposefully leaving a mess
then youll have to stay after and clean up everything on your own.
Representation

: The Maintenance Agency (MA) will be made up of 12 members -- three people from each
attendance group will volunteer to do the job (12 people maximum). These jobs rotate people every four weeks. All you
would have to do it sign up on a sheet of paper saying youll complete the job to the best of your ability for the next four
weeks. What you get for completing the job successfully is cupcakes (maybe), extra credit, and the ability to leave the
wing a few minutes early.
Oversight

: The oversight branch of Maintenance Agency makes sure everything is kept in order and determines
what happens if things are not kept in order. Every individual is responsible for keeping everything organized and in
usable condition. The twelve group members are really in charge of enforcing these rules and follow them at the same
time. Each group member will carry a card around and write names down of people that are not following these rules mess makers. People who get their names written down may be chosen to clean up the MCIS at the end of the day.
Services

: Every individual in the MCIS is in charge of their own trash and their personal belongings. The twelve
group members in the MA are in charge of overseeing that each individual is cleaning up after themselves. Also the
twelve group members are in charge of making sure all the furniture is back where it needs to be at the end of the time
period. Also, theyre are in charge to make sure misplaced items are taken to the lost and found. If any items or furniture
is marked up or damaged, report it to the teachers or staff members.
