ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

- There is a great range of employment

opportunities in Jakarta mainly because it
has such a high population. Workers from
all over the world fly into Jakarta to work
and earn money to support their families.
- One of the most popular jobs in Jakarta is
teaching English to school children and
adults. Jakarta offers a better future
(workwise) for children, as there are such
a large number of jobs offered. The jobs in
Jakarta are also very high paying and are
a great way to start your career.
& - There are many apartments in Jakarta so
there are a lot of places for people to live.
There are plenty of hotels and vacancies
for people to stay in if they are visiting.

- There are many environmental factors of

Jakarta, such as, great culture food,
traditions, and history.

PUSH FACTORS
- As there are so many people, many of
them are trying to get a job, and it can be
quite hard to easily get one.

- The housing market almost dropped due to

increasing costs of building materials and
higher housing loan interest rates. There is a
lot of traffic in Jakarta so it is hard to get
around and it is known that Jakarta has the
worst traffic jams compared to other cities.
- In Jakarta there are apartments, ghettos
and houses just like any other megacity.
There are many slums and ghettos in many
parts of Jakarta because many people
cannot afford housing.
- In Jakarta, there are many environmental
problems, pollution, deforestation, fishing
too much and the use of palm oil.
- Pollution has become a big problem due to
the large population and heavy traffic. Air
pollution isnt the only pollution Jakarta is
suffering. Most people live within 100 km of

the coast, which places high demands on

the coastal environment. Sewage and
industrial pollution is causing reefs to
decline in many popular areas.
- Deforestation is a massive issue, not just
Jakarta but the whole of Indonesia. It is
estimated that Indonesia loses about 1,87
million ha every year from deforestation.
The impacts for losing such a great amount
of forest are, habitat loss for endangered
species such as the orangutan and the
Sumatran rhino. The main reason for
deforestation is palm oil, which they use in
food but it is not a necessary ingredient.
- Overfishing in Jakarta has become a
massive problem. Most of Jakartas fisheries
are overexploited and pushing fish
populations to the point of extinction. With
such a large population, Jakartas fishes are
becoming extinct which leads to the
decrease in marine animals who depend on
those fish. Coral reefs are also decreasing in
numbers because they too depend on those
fish being killed.
