Introduction

Widely used treatment, effective for patients with severe mental


disorders.

Negative psychological factors associated: low self-esteem,


depression and anxiety.

Purpose: Determine effects of supportive nursing care on self-esteem


of patients receiving ECT.

Randomized clinical trial

70 patients: 30 in control and 30 in intervention

Control Group: only routine ECT treatment

Intervention Group: supportive care and routine ECT treatment

Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale ranges 0-30

Self-esteem comparison before and after ECT

Intervention group: 13.68 to 18.22


Control group: 13.14 to 11.54
