The war begins

The ships were blown through black storms one minute, then they sailed under
blue skies the next, for the gods were arguing. Zeus sent down thunder and
lightning to please aphrodite. Then apollo blew the storm clouds away and
calmed the winds, which delighted athena.
Three weeks later the fleet landed on the shores of troy. The army was
immediately attacked by an angry swarm of trojan. Achilles led the greeks into
the first battle. Both sides fought ferociously. Swords sparked and clashed in
the middly sun.
Achilles fought with such skill that the trojans lost courage and fled back inside
the walls of troy. They barred the heavy city gates.
The greek army sent Odysseus and Menelaus to talk to priam and demand
Helens return. The old King listened to the noble leaders.
