Instructions for completion
You are required to complete and submit all the short answer questions
below. A satisfactory result is only achieved once 80% of questions are
deemed correct. If you need assistance with any of the questions
please contact your trainer, who will be happy to assist you.

written assessment you will be provided with additional opportunities to

Question 1:
Explain the purpose of a Job Specification document and how it can
influence the creation of a digital image within the workplace
A job specification document is a document that is needed when
having a job it states the skills and experience of the job and what
is needed to perform that job.
If someone wanted to get a job in that business they could take a
look at the job specification sheet and see what the requirements
are so they know if the job is for them or not.
You need to tell them what your qualifications where and were you
went to university, how long you studied that course for etc.
If you have the ability to stand up in front of large audiences and
do presentations and speak.
If you are applying for a job you will have to have at least 2 years
of job qualifications for that job.
It is delivered by a job analysis.
It can show you the exact picture that needs to be taken in a
workplace

List and explain four areas that should be covered within a job
specification document
Camera settings, the type of settings it needs to be on to take a
picture.

It also needs to be set to a certain way for example, portrait or


landscape.
The type of shot that you want to take eg, motion shot, portrait
shot indoor shot etc.
Shutter speed, how long I takes for the camera to take a picture it
will be so much of a second for example 1/100 seconds.

Using a digital camera in your school or workplace, list its specifications
for each of the following and explain their relevance:
Pixel Resolution:
Pixel revolution is the number of pixels in a digital image.
Storage Capacity:
The amount of storage a device can hold like a card or disk on a
camera, if you dont want pictures on your camera because the
capacity is full you can put it onto a USB which can then be
transferred onto a computer if wanted.
Optical Zoom:
Optical zoom is a part of the camera that allows you to zoom in or
out when taking a picture.
Question 4:
Describe what checks are performed within your school or workplace to
ensure that digital cameras and their software are compatible with the
computer system.
Before you buy a camera you should always check to make sure
that the camera is available to connect to your computer system
and have the right matches for the software. You can find this by
looking on the internet on different sites because all sites may be
different, their will also be information on the camera boxes. When
you are looking in the shop at the back of the box of the pacific
camera you want to purchase It will have all the information
needed and tell you what sort of computer you need for the
camera to get availability to. If there isnt enough information on
that box or online for you to get the best understanding for the
computer you can ask the person at the desk who is selling you
the camera in the shop. Or you can try find someone who knows
exactly what is compatible for the computer and call them, they
may give you extra help and more details.

Explain how the following settings are adjusted prior to capturing an
image on your digital camera
Zoom :
When you want to zoom on your camrea you turn the lens left or
right depending on if your zooming in or out

Focal Length :
The focal length also depends on the focus of the camera and if
your zooming in our out i twill change if you put something very
close to the camrea you would have to twist the lens in a right or
left direction to get the focas correct. If its futher away you will do
the same procedure.
Shutter Speed :
Shutter speed is the amount of time how long it takes for the
picture to capture the image you want. It also determines how
light has been absorbed into the picture.
Flash :
Flash is when the camera has flash on or off when taking a picture
you can change this with the flash setting.
Question 6 :
Describe the workplace health and safety procedures that are required
to be followed in your school or workplace for the handling and safe
storage of Lithium and Nikel-Metal Hydride batteries.
Batteries are not aloud in hot places this can damage them and
also make them leak. They need to be stored in a cool dry place.
Batteries should also not be kept in a camera if it is not going to
be used for a long time, because this can cause them to leak and
damage the camera.
Question 7:
Explain the effects of the following influences on the capture of a digital
image within your workplace
Image composition (placement of subject):
This can change the way the image is being focused.
Light intensity and placement:
The light intensity can depend on how much light has been taken
in the picture, if there are windows or lights on in the pictures it
can change what the picture looks like on the camera to how it
looks in real life.

Explain the following terms and how their adjustment can enhance the
quality of images on your digital camera
Tone curves:
The camera didnt have tone curves.
Neutral (white) balance:
You can use a natural white balance so it makes your picture look
less colourful.
Shutter speed:
Shutter speed determines how fast your camera will take the
picture, for example if it is a fast motion shot it can be a bit

can give it a very straight shot.
Question 9:
List and describe the steps required to upload images from your digital
camera to your computer system in your school or workplace.
1. Make sure the camera and computer are both on
2. You connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable/
3. In the file box at the left hand side at the bottom of the page, click
on that.
4. There will be a little label down the side saying the name of the
camera click on that and the images will come up
5. You can then copy and paste them to a USB, or photo/document.

Question 10:
List some of the requirements you would take into consideration when
deciding whether images you have taken may require enhancing or
manipulation.
If the pictures look blurry you may need to change them to get
them to the crisp look you wanted. You can use contrast to
determine whether the picture will look better when its lighter or
darker (less blurry).

What file formats are images saved as once they are uploaded or
manipulated within your workplace?

Once a digital image has been adjusted as per the requirements of your
workplace, how is it delivered to the appropriate person?
It can be sent through post or emailed, it can also be put onto a
USB stick that can then be given to that person.

Print a digital image:


1. Open the document you want to print
2. Go to print
3. Chose the printer you want it printed to
4. Chose if you want it in colour or not
5. Press print
6. Go and collect your printing work

Burn/Copy a digital image to CD or USB memory stick:


1. Put the memory stick in the USB part of the computer
2. Find the CD or USB when the memory card has connected and
click on it.
3. It will then show its menu options
4. It will then come up with an option that says sent to, click on
that, click on that so it will take you to a submenu.
5. It should then label that memory stick as a removable disk.
6. The disk is now ready to copy.
